Bill Clinton’s 2012 Democratic National Convention Speech: Hillary Watches In Support!

Sep 6, 2012 @ 5:19 pm

Well, this is just too cute! Last night, former president Bill Clinton gave his speech at the Democratic National Convention, and doting wife (and our Secretary of State, of course!) Hillary Clinton caught up a little later in the night by watching a replay from halfway around the world in Southeast Asia. This adorable sign of support and affection got us thinking about famous couples who support each other in their endeavors. Brooklyn Decker has been a staple this week at the US Open Tennis Championships while husband Andy Roddick played his heart out in his final games before retirement. And we’re still thinking about how Jay-Z watched in awe on the sidelines as Beyoncé rubbed her baby bump on stage at last year’s MTV VMAs. We just love all these couples!

The Most Powerful Women in the World Are…

Aug 23, 2012 @ 4:30 pm

Now this is girl power! Forbes published its list of The 100 Women Who Run The World, and we are thrilled that they included some of our favorite ladies. We weren’t surprised to see Beyoncé, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Lady Gaga on the list, in a mix of CEOs, philanthropists, and world leaders. (German Chancellor Angela Merkel ranked number one, due in part to her status as the country’s first female chancellor.) Click through the gallery to see where some of our favorites ranked!

Julianne Moore as Hillary Clinton

Apr 8, 2011 @ 12:45 pm

Hillary Clinton, is that you? Our March cover girl Julianne Moore makes a very convincing Secretary of State in this leaked makeup test image from the HBO Tony Blair biopic The Special Relationship. Moore had to back out of the project due to filming conflicts with The Kids Are All Right, and actress Hope Davis eventually snagged the role. The film, which originally aired last May, also starred Michael Sheen as Blair, and Dennis Quaid as Bill Clinton. And while she didn’t end up playing Clinton, she’s gearing up to play another political lady: Sarah Palin in HBO’s upcoming flick Game Change. Tell us: Did Moore’s Clinton photo make you do a double take? We did!

Live From the State Department’s “Diplomacy at Home for the Holidays” Event

Dec 14, 2010 @ 5:45 pm

InStyle partnered with the State Department to decorate the Diplomatic Reception Rooms for the holidays, where this afternoon Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hosted her annual “Diplomacy at Home for the Holidays” event honoring the families of State Department employees who are stationed in foreign places without their loved ones. “For those who are serving far from home every day, but particularly during the holiday season, we know that this is a big sacrifice; we know how much you miss them, and we thank you because you’re also serving our country because of what they are doing,” Clinton told the attendees. For the rooms, InStyle brought on famed event planner David Stark to create the elegant holiday decorations, where Clinton—who wore a chic, red tailored blazer—invited all of the children in attendance to take a photo with her. “The biggest surprise is that there are real people here behind all the politics and diplomacy that happens in this building,” Stark told us. “Everybody loves the holidays, good cheer, and optimism.” Click here to see the elegant and modern holiday décor Stark designed for the State Department.
