No Doubt Collaborates With Fred Perry for Capsule Collection

Dec 12, 2012 @ 4:22 pm

No Doubt is taking its punk rock roots right to Fred Perry! The band teamed up with the British company to create three capsule collection pieces—a V-neck sweater, a shirt, and a bomber jacket—set to launch this spring. “The band have worked alongside the Fred Perry design team to create a collection of classic Fred Perry styles, referencing their ska and reggae roots and celebrating Fred Perry’s unique relationship with subculture,” the company wrote on its site. And this follows right in line with both parties—frontwoman Gwen Stefani is famous for her lines L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers, while Perry has collaborated with Amy Winehouse in the past. Head to fredperry.com to see the styles, and sign up to be notified when the items go on sale.

This week we loved all kinds of looks for our Look of the Day top picks, from jumpsuits (Diane Kruger in Jason Wu) to leather leggings topped off with embroidered jackets (Gwen Stefani in Balmain) to a tunic-and-trouser look (Jessica Biel in Oscar de la Renta). Of course, a great gown always gets us to do a double take (like Katy Perry‘s floral Dolce & Gabbana design) as well as a solid LBD (Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior). So, you tell us: Which is your favorite of the week? Vote in the poll below!  More

The promos for the American Music Awards promised our playlist would come alive—and it did! With 17 performances throughout the three-hour broadcast, we had our heads bobbing to the music all night, which is why we rounded up our favorite performances for you right here. Nicki Minaj, who won for Best Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Album, wowed with a winter wonderland performance of her new single “Freedom,” No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani epitomized her new song “Looking Hot” with an Emilio Pucci crystal-embellished houndstooth jacket, and Korean pop sensation Psy shocked the audience when he brought out special guest MC Hammer for a “2 Legit 2 Quit” and “Gangham Style” dance mash-up to close the show. “With Psy I knew right away that he’s a good guy,” MC Hammer told reporters after the performance. “I told him dance has only moved the planet four times. James Brown with his dance shifted the planet. Michael Jackson with his dance shifted the planet. Yours truly, Hammertime, shifted the planet. And now Psy shifted the planet. So, to be with somebody who shifted the planet, and have fun—I loved doing it and we had a great time together.” Click through to see all our favorite performances!

Nail Polish Trend to Try: A Single, White Statement Nail

Nov 14, 2012 @ 2:58 pm

Anne Hathaway and Gwen Stefani gave their solid manicures a cute twist this week by painting their ring fingers white! The crisp shade gave contrast to Hathaway’s red and Stefani’s black nails, and is an easy way to experiment with new colors. Try the trend at home, but limit your statement nail to just one digit, like your ring or middle finger. If deeper shades intimidate you, incorporate a lighter hue to break up the effect. We love a deep wine and navy blue combo, and day-glo neons are instantly grounded when paired with taupe or nude colors.

2012 MTV EMAs: Our Favorite Manicures

Nov 12, 2012 @ 6:01 pm

There was no shortage of creative manicures at the 2012 MTV EMAs in Germany last nightKim Kardashian and Rita Ora matched their digits to their dresses: Kardashian lacquered up in an inky noir to complement her Stephane Rolland design, while Ora tried red lace nail art to play off her Marchesa ballgown. Meanwhile, Heidi Klum and Gwen Stefani also used their outfits as nail inspiration: Klum opted for a bejeweled metallic design, drawing from the studded detail of her Versace lace-up dress, while Stefani added a crisp white statement nail to her two-tone Jean Paul Gaultier outfit. We love how the contrasting hues stand out against their outfits without creating a too-busy effect. Take a closer look at their nails, and see more celebrity manicures in our gallery!

The Black-and-White Trend: Which Stars Are Loving the Color Combo?

What’s black and white all over? Celebrity style this season. Stars are taking over the red carpet (and the streets!) in black-and-white ensembles, and we love the graphic color combination! Jessica Alba wore a menswear-inspired black and white number by Narciso Rodriguez to the Environmental Media Awards, Kristen Stewart followed suit in a black-and-white Balenciaga design for the AFI fest screening of her new movie, On the Road, and Cameron Diaz opted for a more feminine take on the trend with a simple satin dress by Stella McCartney at the world premiere of her movie, Gambit, in London. Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani also stepped out across the pond earlier this fall wearing black leather pants, a white turtleneck, and a black blazer. Click through the gallery to see more black-and-white looks on your favorite stars!
