Garcelle Beauvais on Holiday Shopping for Her Kids: “It’s All About Science, Toys, and Football”

Dec 19, 2012 @ 3:34 pm

Flight actress Garcelle Beauvais does not mess around when it comes to shopping for gifts for her three children, Jax, Jaid, and Oliver. She already has a hit list of favorite spots she plans to raid: “Toys “R” Us! There’s another store called The Brain Store where they have a lot of science stuff. I also like Sports Authority,” Beauveaus excitedly told InStyle at our Golden Globes kickoff party. Science and sports? “The kids are insane [athletes],” Beauvais explained. “Jax watches football like a grown-up—like he’s got money on the game! He’s cheering and screaming and jumping on the couch. It’s crazy!” Crazy? Sounds like the holidays!

Who says summer’s over? Not these ladies. Rebecca Romijn (in Dilek Hanif), Ali Larter (in Temperley),  Selma Blair (in Skaist Taylor), Garcelle Beauvais (in BCBG), Ashley Greene (in Antonio Berardi), and Rachel Zoe (in Rachel Zoe collection) stepped out at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Palisades, California this weekend in light, sun-loving looks. And they came prepared, as well: “I was like, no pointy heels! I don’t want to be sinking into the lawn out there,” Romijn told us, when asked about the possibility of divot treading during the event. Celebrity Trend Alert: Feathers!

May 4, 2011 @ 10:15 am

Ever since Gwyneth Paltrow performed at the Grammys in February with pink feathers dangling from her, we noticed more celebrities who gravitated to the bird-like decorations this year. Garcelle Beauvais recently wore a bold bright blue pair to a party in Hollywood, Drew Barrymore debuted her new red ‘do with a long feather earring twisted into it, and Vanessa Hudgens attended a fashion show with a single flighty adornment. It’s not that feathers were never popular before, because they were, but now they’re brighter, bigger, and more decorative than ever! Click through to see Heidi Klum, Selena Gomez, and other stylish stars loving feathers right now. Would you wear feathers? Tell us in the comments below!

Malin Akerman, Garcelle Beauvais, and more toasted to Rag & Bone when the label held a party at Intermix in Los Angeles this week. “I love Rag & Bone,” Beauvais told us. “Everything lately that I pick up and ask ‘What is this?’ It’s Rag & Bone.” The label’s designer David Neville was on hand to welcome guests, which also included Drew Barrymore, who stole the designer away from the crowd to chat with him privately in the corner while Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” and Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You” played in the background. Feb 10, 2011 @ 11:15 am

Celebrities kicked off New York Fashion Week last night by marching down the runway for a cause. Camila Alves, Cat Deeley, Suzanne Somers, Denise Richards, Dita Von Teese, Ann Curry, and more all wore red dresses by designers for The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Fashion Show, which raises awareness for the foundation that spreads information about heart disease for women on a national level. “As women, we’re all nurturers and caretakers,” Deeley, in Alberta Ferretti, told us before the show. “But you can’t do that unless you take care of yourself.” Click through the gallery to see all the celebrities who walked at The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Fashion Show!

Hope for Haiti: One Year Later

Jan 12, 2011 @ 11:41 am

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti. To help with the rebuilding, American Eagle Outfitters—together with the support of celebrities like Garcelle Beauvais (shown top), who was born in Haiti—now offers “Help Haiti Heal” T-shirts in stores, $15.50, proceeds of which go to raising funds for Haitian schools. Tracy Reese (shown bottom) is also helping the Haitian recovery efforts: The designer is selling bags, jewelry and crafts created by Haitian designers in her New York store and will host a shopping benefit on January 26th; a portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to Haiti relief initiatives.
