Is the end of squeezing into spandex-tight jeans nearing? It’s not entirely over, but there is a shift happening. Stars including Milla Jovovich (in Giorgio Armani), Solange Knowles (in Roberto Cavalli), Nicole Richie (in Balmain) and Elizabeth Olsen (in The Row) have adopted a more comfortable (read: roomier) alternative to too-tight skinnies with wide-leg pants. Ever since designers like Chloe and Proenza Schouler sent the wide-leg silhouette down the runway last year, the relaxed fit has become popular both on and off the red carpet. To find the right one for you, look for a pair that sits easily at the hips. The hem should skim the ground, revealing just the tips of your shoes (this may require alterations). Team a tee with a linen fabric for a casual weekend brunch look or don a blouse and blazer with a silk or satin pair for a dressier occasion. After the CFDA Awards, it’s party time! Stars like Kerry Washington (in Jason Wu) and Sofia Vergara (in Herve L. Leroux) gathered in their best couture getups to fete the achievements made by this year’s fashion all-stars. Givenchy‘s Riccardo Tisci celebrated his win for the International Award with a hug from Jessica Chastain, and Elizabeth Olsen came out to support little sis and The Row designer Mary-Kate. Usually on the red carpet, the designers praise the stars. At the CFDA Awards, it’s the other way around! Celebrities including Sofia Vergara (in Herve L. Leroux and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry) and Kerry Washington (in Jason Wu), Elizabeth Olsen (in The Row), and Romeo and Juliet stars Hailee Steinfeld (in customized Swarovski-covered Suno) and Douglas Booth (in Tom Ford) were among the celebrities who helped honor fashion’s elite at Lincoln Center in New York City last night. With the event celebrating the best of the industry, it has a different feel than typical star-heavy awards shows. “I presented at the Oscars, and I thought, I’m an actress, so I understand talking about acting, but fashion is a bit more complicated for me,” The Office star Ellie Kemper (in Naeem Khan) told InStyle.com. “It’s intimidating because I’m in awe of what they do!” Click to see what everyone wore.
Hollywood is seeing red! Last week, Dianna Agron and Rachel McAdams both surprised all of us by taking their blonde strands to a bold crimson, and now, Elizabeth Olsen, and Coco Rocha are the latest celebrities to give their hair an auburn tint. While Rocha went the fire-engine route, Olsen’s change was much more subtle, adding a hint of red to her brunette shade. Considering the red route? Joel Warren of Warren-Tricomi Salons notes that the color is more high-maintenance, but the bold statement it makes is worth it. “Red hair has the largest molecule and is difficult to enter into the shaft of your hair,” Warren told us. “To make it last, you need products that help close the cuticle. Try L’Oreal Professionel’s INOA salon service, which doesn’t have ammonia and won’t open the hair cuticle.” Additionally, add more color-preserving products into your hair routine, and steer clear of shampoos that contain sulfates, which can strip hair color. “A strawberry blonde on a blonde base will last much longer than a rich auburn on that same base color,” he added.

The parties continue during New York Fashion Week! Elizabeth Olsen stopped by Scoop NYC in the Meatpacking District to show her support for celebrity stylist Cher Coulter, who was launching her collaboration with AG Denim. “My concept was to really make it about a lot of different people: the girl that’s a bit more eclectic, the girl that’s a bit more rock ‘n roll, the girl that’s a bit more classic, and then the girl who’s a bit more of a sex bomb,” Coulter told InStyle.com of her new jeans.” Just a few blocks away at Manhattan hotspot The Electric Room, Olivia Palermo joined celebrity-loved designer Rachel Roy for the after-party celebrating lingerie brand La Perla’s new collection.
