Happy Birthday, Darren Criss! Watch His Best Glee Solo

Feb 5, 2013 @ 2:00 pm

Whip out your cardigans and raise your voices because it’s Darren Criss birthday! We love the actor and singer all gelled-back and preppied-out on Glee just as much as when he’s working his natural curls, and that’s why we’re celebrating his 26th year with one of his best (and beauty-themed!) solos: “Beauty School Dropout” from the show’s Grease-themed episode. Watch the clip with us on repeat and start practicing your bow-tie tying skills—you never know when Darren might need a hand!

Dec 25, 2012 @ 9:30 am

Happy holidays! If you’re celebrating today, switch on this festive Glee cover of “White Christmas” sung by Darren Criss and Chris Colfer, and part of Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album, Volume 3. This pair’s annual duet is especially wintery this year, as the two belt out their song mid-ice-skating (watch it above!). And if you love couple’s rendition check out their cheery duets from year’s past, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” and “Let it Snow!” Now that’s the spirit!

Darren Criss on Glee’s “Glease” Episode

Nov 15, 2012 @ 1:56 pm
GleeCourtesy Fox

On tonight’s all-new episode of Glee, the cast will be recreating scenes and performing songs from Grease. We caught up with Darren Criss at Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Tie The Knot launch party last night to get his take on the “Glease” episode. “It’s definitely a new favorite,” Criss told InStyle.com. “If you’re a Grease fan, you’re going to love it. If you don’t know anything about Grease, you’re going to want to watch Grease.” Sounds (and looks) like viewers are in for a ride (note the “Greased Lighting” preview above). This week will also see the return of Kate Hudson as Lea Michele’s dance instructor, Cassandra July. Hudson, along with Naya Rivera and newcomer Alex Newell, will be singing “There Are Worse Things I Could Do,” and Criss can’t get enough of it. “It’s so good. It’s wonderful!” he said. So, grab your hair gel, leather pants, and poodle skirts—this screams sing-along. Glee‘s “Glease” episode airs tonight at 9/8c on FOX.

Glee Returns! Rachel Gets a New Wardrobe and Blaine Sings

Sep 14, 2012 @ 11:45 am

Glee returned last night for its fourth season premiere! We missed watching Lea Michele‘s Rachel Berry stomp around McKinley High, though we did enjoy seeing her brand new NYATA wardrobe, including leotards for dance classes with Kate Hudson‘s Cassandra July and pencil skirts by Milly. Meanwhile, down in Lima, we’re happy to report that the rising seniors are ready to fill Rachel’s Mary Janes, none more than Blaine (Darren Criss), who took the lead with this effervescent rendition of Imagine Dragons’s “It’s Time” (watch it above!). In true Blaine form, Criss sings, dances, and works one of his trademark vests on the high school’s back stairwell, all to say a sweet “goodbye” to his boyfriend, Kurt (Chris Colfer), who (spoiler alert!) made his way to New York by the end of the show. Tell us: Did you love last night’s premiere? And what do you think of Rachel’s new style?

Plus, see Glee‘s best guest stars ever—including its latest addition, Kate Hudson!

Glee’s Darren Criss: ‘Believe It or Not, I Know How to Put on Pants’

Jul 24, 2012 @ 4:30 pm

Darren Criss is excited to get back to filming Glee soon, and it doesn’t take much to get him into character. “I’m lucky, I can step into it,” he told us at last night’s FOX TCA party in Los Angeles. “They slicked my hair back and then I was there.” Aside from some good hair gel, the clothes help, too: “I have to wear things that are always a bit smaller than what I would wear,” he said. “Blaine’s whole wardrobe is based on Thom Browne and Brooks Brothers—the high pants and tight shirt. He has a distinct wardrobe.” Criss’s off-duty style diverges greatly, opting for a less buttoned-up look, but still pulled together. “I’m very different from Blaine,” he said, adding (jokingly) that he dresses himself. “I do work with my stylist, but believe it or not, I do put my legs into my own pants and I get to say yes, no, maybe soI’ve had to tie a few ties for some of the boys here.” Charming!
