The release date for Fifty Shades of Grey may have been pushed back to February 13, 2015, but it’s clear that filming will be starting any day now, as evidenced by Dakota Johnson‘s brunette strands. Johnson, who will play Anastasia Steele in the film interpretation of the steamy novel, unveiled her new look on Monday (wearing Thierry Lasry “Orgasmy” shades) while shopping in Hollywood, only a few days before the Entertainment Weekly cover featuring her and co-star Jamie Dornan arrived on news stands. Fifty Shades of Grey quickly gained momentum after hitting store shelves last year, and despite the hype, the up-and-coming star isn’t intimidated by the risqué plot. “I’m not afraid of this story,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I understand this girl, and I get it.” We’ve only ever seen Johnson as a blonde, but we have to say, the darker hue is flattering on her and brings a welcome change for the fall season. With production beginning in the next few weeks, we can’t wait to see more sneak peeks at the movie, as well as Dakota’s new brown hair.
It’s official: Dakota Johnson will play Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey! The steamy novel has made serious waves since first hitting shelves—or slightly more discreet e-book downloads—followed by various spin-offs (an off-Broadway musical spoof of the story ran on the Great White Way earlier this year, and Bobbi Brown was so inspired by the book, she launched a limited-edition collection in appropriate smoky tones). Johnson will star opposite Charlie Hunnam of Sons of Anarchy fame, and while we eagerly await more sneak peeks as filming begins, we rounded up three facts below that you should know about her—we think you’ll be seeing a lot more of the star before the movie hits theaters next August.
