Hollywood invaded our Northern neighbors! The stars are in Toronto for the annual Toronto International Film Festival, and InStyle crossed the border to get the scoop on the buzziest movies and talent to come from the fest, including Dallas Buyers Club stars Jennifer Garner, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom star Naomie Harris (shown above in Alexander McQueen). We set up a pop-up portrait studio at the Windsor Arms Hotel so the casts from the top films could stop by and get snapped by photographer Henny Garfunkel. We also have two pairs of Google Glasses on site, which grabbed the attention of The Last of Robin Hood star Dakota Fanning (in Marni), who tested them out. “Wow, this is crazy weird!” she reacted. Elizabeth Olsen and Dakota Fanning celebrated the premiere of their film Very Good Girls at the Sundance Film Festival with an after-party hosted by The Mint Agency, The Branding Be, and Simple Night at the Nur Khan Presents NK pop-up in Park City, Utah. In the film, Fanning (in Louis Vuitton) and Olsen play best friends who take a risky pact during the summer following their senior year—only to have their friendship tested in a big way. ”I’ve known Lizze for a while,“ Fanning told InStyle.com when she dropped by our portrait studio earlier that day. “We really, truly love each other and are close.“

Dakota Fanning and Coco Rocha are lightening up this winter! After a brief stint as a brunette in the fall, Fanning went back to her blond roots to start the year. Also, model Coco Rocha swapped her auburn hue for ombre highlights. Rocha dabbled in the two-tone hair trend back in May when she used pink extensions at the Met Gala, but unveiled a more permanent version yesterday. What do you think of their new looks? Fall is really taking hold of celebrities’ hair choices. Last week, Olivia Wilde debuted dark chocolate strands, and now Dakota Fanning followed suit, posting a photo to her and sister Elle’s co-Instagram @thefannings with the caption “well look who turned into a brunette!” We haven’t seen the older Fanning with hair this dark since her role in 2005’s thriller Hide and Seek, when she was just 11 years old. Her new hue, created by Warren-Tricomi colorist Jenda Alcorn, was influenced by her role in the upcoming film Night Moves, where she’ll star alongside Jesse Eisenberg and Peter Sarsgaard. Tell us: do you like Dakota’s look?

Dakota Fanning showed off her summer style in a Topshop swan-print skirt and matching cut-out top while out and about in Los Angeles this week. While her cropped tank has sold out, we think her swingy mini would look equally great with a simple white blouse. Score the style for $68 at topshop.com.

The fashion industry celebrated one of its biggest nights at the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards, last night held at Lincoln Center in New York City. And there was no shortage of stars on hand to support their designer pals, including Dakota Fanning (in brocade Proenza Schouler), Lily Collins (in funnel-neck Marchesa), and Zoe Saldana (in Prabal Gurung). “I just wanted to be sexy and feel very womanly, and he wanted that, too,” the actress told InStyle.com of how she and Gurung collaboratively picked her look. “We don’t censor each other. We have so much mutual respect.” A newly-brunette Mary-Kate Olsen and sister Ashley walked away as the night’s biggest winners, when Jessica Chastain (in Prabal Gurung) presented the twins with the highly-coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award for their label, The Row. “With the future of American fashion in such supremely talented hands, the next 50 years are going to be every bit as exciting as the last,” Chastain said. What a compliment! Visit cfda.com to who else won awards, and see more photos in the gallery.
