Christy Turlington Burns Designs Baby Accessories for Every Mother Counts

Oct 11, 2012 @ 5:32 pm

Christy Turlington Burns teamed up with Ergobaby to create a collection of baby accessories benefitting her charity, Every Mother Counts. “They understand the importance of the bonding between a mother and child,” Turlington Burns told InStyle.com of why she got involved at the launch of the collection. The idea is in line with her non-profit, which raises awareness for maternal health and aims to reduce maternal mortality worldwide. The collection includes two carriers, a diaper bag, and a purse, each featuring an “Umbra” fabric created by a designer from Togo, Africa and a message saying “my mom counts.” “To create something that was special and inspired by some of the countries with the worst statistics was really important,” she added. “I almost want to have a baby again to go through enjoying what these things do!” The items are now available on store.ergobaby.com, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Every Mother Counts.

New Maternity Line Launch: Hatch Collection

Oct 4, 2011 @ 10:45 am

Maternity wear is getting a chic makeover thanks to designer Ariane Goldman. She’s the brains behind the newly-launched Hatch, a collection of 14 easy-to-wear pieces made to last before, during, and after pregnancy. “I’m about ease, looking chic, and investing in pieces that you can wear again, no matter what happens to our bodies as women,” says Goldman, who previously applied the same buy-now-last-forever concept to bridesmaids dresses with the successful line Twobirds. Her take on mom-to-be style includes draped silk dresses, button-down blouses, and evening options, each for under $400. A portion of the proceeds is also donated to Every Mother Counts, the non-profit founded by Christy Turlington-Burns dedicated to raising money and awareness for maternal health in poorer countries. See the entire debut in the gallery, and visit hatchcollection.com to shop it now.

Christy Turlington Burns and Jennifer Fisher’s Charm for Charity

Sep 27, 2011 @ 10:15 am

Christy Turlington Burns teamed up with jewelry designer Jennifer Fisher to create a special charm for the charity she founded, Every Mother Counts, an organization dedicated to increasing support for maternal and child health. The activist and model created the non-profit after she suffered complications from childbirth. And while she had a team of doctors to help, she learned that a woman dies every 90 seconds from pregnancy complications. Sadly, 90 percent of these deaths are preventable. “Jennifer Fisher not only designs amazing jewelry, but she also uses her talent to give back and inspire,” Turlington Burns told InStyle.com exclusively. “I am forever grateful for her support.” The 14k rose gold “MOM” charm is available for $130 (chain not included) at jenniferfisherjewelry.com; $50 of every sale will be donated to Every Mother Counts.
