The ladies may have stolen the show in red, but the men gave them a run for their money! Best Supporting Actor nominee Leonardo DiCaprio looked handsome in a classic black tie tuxedo by Tom Ford, Ben Affleck, who won Best Director and Best Picture for Argo, chose an unconventional navy three-piece tux, Bradley Cooper, Best Actor in a Drama nominee for Silver Linings Playbook, also wore a Tom Ford suit, and presenter Robert Pattinson went with his go-to red carpet designer, Gucci.

Ben Affleck Doesn’t Know What to Do With His Argo Clothes

Jan 13, 2013 @ 11:20 am

While Ben Affleck is more than excited about his Best Director and Best Motion Picture Golden Globes nominations for Argo, there’s still one thing that’s left unsettled about the movie—his wardrobe. “There’s a clause in my contract that I get to keep all the clothes I wear in the movie,” the actor/director (in Gucci) told InStyle.com at the BAFTA Tea Party in Los Angeles. “But of course in this one [Argo], I’ve now been left with a lot of 1970s Brooks Brothers jackets. So, I need to figure out what to do with all of them!” We smell an eBay auction!

Ben Affleck on His Family: “It’s the Most Important Thing in My Life”

Jan 9, 2013 @ 12:38 pm

Ben Affleck is more than just a leading actor and director—he’s a family man! “Naturally family is the most important thing in my life,” Affleck told reporters at last night’s National Board of Review Awards in New York City where he took home the Special Achievement in Filmmaking honor for his film, Argo. “I’ve really learned to appreciate this stuff. Family makes any achievements that you’re able to have in your life that much richer.” The actor married Jennifer Garner in 2005, and the couple have three kids together, Violet, 7, Seraphina, 4, and Samuel, 11 months. And he’ll have plenty more to celebrate with his family this awards season, as the Golden Globes and Oscars are both on deck. ”If it was just me, I’d go home alone and it wouldn’t have the same resonance.

While Ben Affleck knows how to wow audiences with his movies (like with his latest success Argo), he also knows how to melt hearts! We had an awwww overdose this week when we spotted Affleck, Entertainment Weekly’s newly-named Entertainer of the Year, in his most meaningful part yet—Dad to his adorable 3-year-old daughter Seraphina in Brentwood, California. “It’s a great thing that happens, the exponential growth between child and parents,” mom/wife Jennifer Garner had told InStyle of their growing family. And with the weekend and family time upon us, we had to take a moment to celebrate this adorable daddy-daughter pair!

Argo in Theaters: Check Out the Seventies Styles

Oct 12, 2012 @ 12:41 pm
ArgoClaire Folger/Warner Bros. Pictures

Ben Affleck solidifies his reputation as a real-deal director with Argo, in theaters today. This smart, well-acted, edge-of-your-seat thriller is about CIA agent Tony Mendez (Affleck) who concocts a crazy plan to free six Americans during the Iranian hostage crisis, with a little help from Hollywood. Scene-stealing turns by John Goodman and Alan Arkin serve as cheeky comic relief to balance out the serious subject matter. The critics are eating it up, and so are we. We caught up with the stars of the film during the Toronto International Film Festival to find out more about the movie—especially those ‘70s-inspired fashions. Click through the gallery to find out what the stars want you to know.

InStyle Takes Toronto! Inside Our Portrait Studio for the Stars

The action’s up here, people! InStyle is in Canada for the annual Toronto International Film Festival, where we set up a purple-walled and zebra rug-covered pop-up portrait studio in the Windsor Arms Hotel so some of our famous friends can come say hi. “I was here for the first time five years ago for Juno, and the feeling then was really special because here was where everyone realized it was going to be something big,” said Olivia Thirlby of Dredd 3D, who trotted into our studio first wearing a ladylike Kate Spade outfit. “This year, it feels kind of similar.” It’s a special feeling all around, more celebrities told us as they passed through, like the Argo cast (including director and star Ben Affleck, who picked up pal Matt Damon’s water.org filtered water bottle), and Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks, wearing a fitted Bird jumpsuit to promote her new flick, Ginger & Rosa. And it’s only getting started! See more photos and get all the behind-the-scenes dish from straight from Toronto in the gallery.
