Last night was the third and final presidential debate between candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, so, as usual, we had our eyes glued to the television to see what the wives were wearing for the penultimate showdown. Michelle Obama chose to repeat a grey Thom Browne dress with black lace overlay—which she also wore during the Democratic National Convention last month—punctuated by an oversized bow-shaped brooch. Ann Romney opted for a green floral full-skirted Oscar de la Renta dress paired with a waist-cinching belt and another statement necklace. At the debate’s conclusion, Browne took to Twitter to express his excitement over dressing Mrs. O: “Honored to see First Lady Michelle Obama wearing our Spring 2013 dress at the final presidential debate!” After both women stepped out in matching hot pink for last week’s debate, and donned starkly contrasting looks at the first, it’s time to cast your vote once again: Who do you think pulled out all the fashion stops for her last debate look?

The wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will soon add TV anchor to her resume. Ann Romney is slated to guest-host ABC’s Good Morning America next Wednesday, Oct. 10, according to the Associated Press. She’s been in the limelight a lot recently, especially for her TV appearances—the fashion world spun into a frenzy when she appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in head-to-toe black leather. And now we finally know who whipped up that edgy number: It was New York-based couture designer Alfred Fiandaca, who also created the all-white suit (a look from 2006, according to The Cut) she wore for the presidential debate this week. We’re already thinking about what she might wear on the show next week. Since her last two outfits were monochromatic neutrals, might she brighten up her look a bit with some primary colors? While President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney battled it out at the first presidential debate last night, there was a different match-up in the front row: the looks worn by wives First Lady Michelle Obama and Ann Romney. Obama re-wore the cobalt and geometric print “Lavender Dress” from Preen’s fall 2011 collection with a matching jacket—a look she first donned on her trip to the UK last year. “We were thrilled to see Michelle wearing our dress and jacket again,” Preen’s Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi told InStyle.com in an email. “We love how she embraces color and style — so refreshing and so effortless.” Romney opted for a sleek white two-piece suit, designed by New York couturier Alfred Fiandaca, and classic two-strand pearls.
