Inside the Party: Amy Poehler Hosts Los Angeles Fundraiser for Worldwide Orphans Foundation

Four years after Worldwide Orphans Foundation founder Dr. Jane Aronson met Amy Poehler at an event, the star’s life has taken on a whole new role—supporter of Aronson’s cause to transform the lives of orphaned children in third-world countries. “Like most people who meet her and hear her, I instantly believed in her and fell in love,” Poehler said of Aronson. In January, the Parks and Recreation star traveled to Haiti on behalf of the foundation to experience its work first-hand, and her involvement came full circle last night when she hosted a WWO fundraising soiree in Los Angeles, where she inspired her star pals Aubrey Plaza, Ahna O’Reilly, Sean Hayes, and Alison Pill to learn more about the issues at hand. “Amy told me that when she went to Haiti it was the littlest things that she did that mattered,” Plaza told InStyle.com at the event, where she perused photos of the organization’s work put together by the photo-printing site Shutterfly.com. For Poehler, the evening was about proving that change can happen one step at a time. “The orphan crisis almost seems too enormous to fix, right? Jane has taught me, and I’ve learned by example, that’s not true,” she said. “You just roll up your sleeves and start working. You’re creating a better future, you’re creating a better world, you’re creating a world that’s full of more love and you’re easing the pain of children all over the world.” Click the photo to see more from the party, and to learn more and donate to the cause, visit wwo.org.

Amy Poehler and Will Smith Raise Money for Brain Health, and More of the Weekend’s Biggest Parties!

Apr 15, 2013 @ 5:15 pm

Will Smith and Amy Poehler attended Keep Memory Alive’s 17th Annual Power of Love Gala in Las Vegas this weekend, which benefited the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. The clinic, which has Vegas-based treatment centers, works specifically to combat brain diseases and help those people afflicted with them. The benefit also celebrated the 80th birthdays of iconic artists Quincy Jones and Sir Michael Caine, who are considered “celestial twins”: they were born on the same day, in the same hour, within minutes of each other, but one in Chicago, one in London. They met years ago and have been close friends ever since. Click the photo to see more of the weekend’s biggest events!

Adam Scott on Amy Poehler’s Parks and Recreation Wedding Dress: “There Wasn’t a Dry Eye in the House”

Mar 14, 2013 @ 9:00 am

When Adam Scott’s Ben tied the knot with Amy Poehler‘s Leslie on Parks and Recreation this season, Scott acted like a true husband-to-be. “I got no input on [Amy’s] wedding dress, but she looked really beautiful,” Scott told InStyle.com at Milk + Bookies 4th Annual Story Time Celebration. He did cheat on one traditional detail though: He peeked at her white lace frock, complete with a pleated paper skirt that chronicled her government career, before Poehler walked down the aisle. “I did get to see it beforehand,” and added, “I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. It was like being at a wedding. It was crazy.” And romantic! Tune in to see a new episode of Parks and Rec tonight at 8:30 pm EST on NBC.

Amy Poehler Is Writing a Book!

Jan 29, 2013 @ 10:38 am

Just like her “bossy” bestie Tina Fey, Amy Poehler is writing a book of her own! The comedian and Parks and Recreation star scored a book deal with the HarperCollins pop culture imprint It Books, which will be released sometime in 2014. “Her original twist on the conventional memoir will have universal appeal,” the publishing house said in a statement. The book will be “an illustrated, non-linear diary full of humor and honesty and brimming with true stories, fictional anecdotes and life lessons.” No official title has been released as of yet, but we already know it’s going to be a must-read!

Parks and Recreation Hairstylist Reveals Amy and Rashida’s Must-Have Product

Nov 15, 2012 @ 4:52 pm

Tonight’s episode of Parks and Recreation is getting politically charged, with Vice President Joe Biden guest starring! We’re excited to see him interact with longtime admirer Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), but how will she ensure that her strands are just right? That’s where the show’s hairstylist, Terrie V. Owen, comes in. Although Pawnee’s most hilarious women keep us laughing, flawless hair is no joke, so Owen turns to White Sands Liquid Texture Styling Spray for both Poehler and Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones). “I use it when I need the waves and curls to stand up to long shooting days on set,” she said. Thanks to its shatter-proof hold that doesn’t leave hair stiff, the product has become a favorite behind the scenes of many TV shows, including True Blood and Mad Men. Pick up a bottle for $19 at whitesandsproducts.com and tune in to NBC at 9:30 p.m. EST to catch the new episode of Parks and Recreation!

The Rag & Bone Print Stars Love

Oct 31, 2012 @ 2:46 pm
Rag & BoneCourtesy Photo

After just landing in stores for fall, Rag & Bones digital stripe print is already a big hit with stars. Mandy Moore chose the to wear the design on the label’s smoking coat to the Rag & Bone west coast flagship opening in Los Angeles, while Amy Poehler slipped into a multi-folded origami dress in the same stripes for The Wantful: Art of Giving Los Angeles event this week. We love how this pattern works for different ages and body types, which proves the power of a good print. Tell us, which would you prefer to wear—the coat or the dress? Find both pieces for $995 each at rag-bone.com.
