It was truly high tea yesterday at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, where some of Hollywood’s biggest names came out to celebrate awards season with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts with an extra dose of British flair—the menu featured scones and cucumber tea sandwiches, and floral centerpieces were housed in London phone booth and teapot vases. Les Miserables stars Anne Hathaway and (InStyle cover girlAmanda Seyfried (in VNA) joined in the celebrations, and Hathaway paid homage to the United Kingdom with her choice of designers for the event. “I’m honoring the country of our hosts! I’m wearing Stella McCartney accessories—a handbag and my shoes,” Hathaway told InStyle.com. “And I’m wearing a Victoria Beckham dress.” The annual BAFTA tea party soiree is held to wish luck to everyone nominated during Awards Season, including tonight’s Golden Globes and the BAFTA Awards, which take place February 10. Michelle Dockery (in Stella McCartney)star of Britain’s most popular show, Downton Abbey, also attended.

Inside the National Board of Review Awards!

“Good things happen to good people!” Bradley Cooper (in Gucci) said as he accepted the Best Actor award for his role in Silver Linings Playbook at last night’s National Board of Review Awards. And he couldn’t have been more right for the good people who filled the ballroom at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan for the three-hour ceremony, hosted by the ever-charismatic Meredith Vieira (who hilariously made jokes about her age, her thighs, and her dream dates with Mr. Bond, Daniel Craig, who sat in the audience). The night’s list of winners included Best Actress Jessica Chastain (in Alexander McQueen) for Zero Dark Thirty, Best Supporting Actor Leonardo DiCaprio for Django Unchained, and the Les Miserables stars Anne Hathaway (in Saint Laurent) and Amanda Seyfried (in Bottega Veneta), who jointly accepted the Best Ensemble Award. “We haven’t really hung out since the movie, so it’s kind of nice,” our InStyle cover girl said of getting back together with her cast-mates, just two of the 204-member ensemble. “It’s been a really long vacation, and now it’s back to work. But at the same time, it’s nighttime, we get free food, and we get to reminisce!” Click through the gallery to see more photos from the gala (and more shots from this week’s biggest parties), and visit nbrmp.org to see the full list of winners.

Golden Globes: Amanda Seyfried Is Still Looking for Her Dress

The Golden Globes are only four days away, and presenter Amanda Seyfried is still on the hunt for her dress! “When I land in L.A. tomorrow I’m going to my stylist’s house and she’ll show me dresses,” Seyfried told reporters at the National Board of Review Awards in New York last night, where she accepted the Best Ensemble honor with her Les Miserables co-stars (and her pals) Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne. Given that her style includes a range of designer looks—such as a studded peach Bottega Veneta look for night’s event, a purple Alexander McQueen design, a flirty red Prabal Gurung look, and a sexy Balenciaga LBD, we predict she’ll choose another high-fashion piece to take the stage for Sunday’s show. Her only hint: “I think Stella McCartney is always doing something fun.” Could she be in Stella on Globes night? We’ll have to wait and see!

Les Miserables: Amanda Seyfriend on Being Cast as Cosette

Dec 25, 2012 @ 10:00 am
Les MiserablesCourtesy

After months of anticipation, Les Miserables is finally in theaters today! The Broadway-to-film adaptation stars Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Hugh Jackman as Jaen Valjean, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, and InStyle cover girl Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, all tragic characters trying to navigate their way through pitiful existences during the French Revolution. “The moment I auditioned for [director Tom Hooper], everything changed,” Seyfried told InStyle. “He gunned for me. What’s most important to him is an actor who can get it and who can be grounded enough to make it believable when she bursts into song.” And she is! The few clips that came out a couple weeks ago reveal in more detail that all the songs are sung live, not recorded post-filming, which is one of the movie’s biggest selling points. It should be an entertaining time at the movies this Christmas Day! Click here to see where the film is playing near you.

InStyles January issue with cover girl Amanda Seyfried is on newsstands today! Fun fact: At our cover shoot, the actress posed for our cameras on a Steinway & Sons grand piano… and then surprised everyone on set by sitting down to play a classical piece. We knew she could act and sing (see: Mamma Mia and the upcoming Les Misérables, out Christmas Day), but our cover girl is truly a triple threat. For more behind-the-scenes details about Seyfried, including her favorite shoes from the shoot and where you can buy them, flip to page 16 of InStyle’s January issue, available now, and read her uncensored, exclusive interview on page 118. On the go? Download the issue on your iPad, Nook, or Droid tablet!

Misha Nonoo: The Rising Designer Celebrities Love

Dec 12, 2012 @ 5:48 pm

Misha Nonoo is a designer to watch! Creations by the 25-year-old—who was born in Bahrain before being schooled in London, Paris, and New York—have been spotted on Minka Kelly, Gwyneth Paltrow, and most recently, InStyle cover girl Amanda Seyfried at a Les Miserables press luncheon this week. “[Seeing a celebrity in my clothes] is great because it’s a different take on how I would do it,” Nonoo told InStyle.com of her clothing at the FGI Night of Stars event earlier this year. “I design a look head to toe, and maybe they don’t wear it that way. It’s just refreshing to see how people put things together.” And you’re bound to see more stars in her designs: After launching her label in 2010, she quickly became known for creating sculpted shapes with precise fits, and in February of this year, she took home Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award for Women’s Ready-to-Wear. And you can get a piece of the celebrity-loved label! Her designs range from $250 to $2,500, on nonoony.com, and be sure to heed her advice when doing so: “Look at the sizing guides! We have a very European fit. It’s very much for everyday, with a designer aesthetic.” Noted!
