At tonight’s CFDA Awards in New York City, Oscar de la Renta will be presented with the Founders Award by pal and frequent de la Renta dresser Hillary Clinton. This is one of the most prestigious honors in the industry, so we’re offering our early congratulations for the 80-year-old designer. The Founders Award—given in honor of Eleanor Lambert, who founded the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1962—recognizes people who have made their mark on the fashion world. De la Renta certainly has done that throughout his 45-plus year career, both on and off the runway. In addition to his romantic and feminine designs being a red carpet staple for Hollywood heavyweights Sarah Jessica Parker and Jessica Biel, he also helps usher in a new class of Oscar Girls, like Jessica Chastain and Allison Williams. Off the carpet, de la Renta also is a devout supporter of the arts, serving on the boards of several organizations, including The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall and the nonprofit New Yorkers for Children. Mythbuster: Celebrity Stylist Cristina Ehrlich Sets the Record Straight About Horizontal Stripes

Mar 22, 2013 @ 2:00 pm

Cristina Ehrlich is Hollywood’s go-to expert for putting together solid outfits—she’s behind the some of Hollywood’s most stylish, including Amy Adams, Ashley GreeneJulianna Margulies, Tina Fey, and rising style star Allison Williams—which means she knows exactly how to pick pieces that have longevity. That’s why Coldwater Creek signed her up as their Guest Stylist for the next three months—and we caught up with her in the label’s New York store to get her keen eye on spring trends. Her biggest tip: Don’t be afraid of horizontal stripes. “I really want to help women understand that stripes do work on all body types,” she told InStyle.com. “There’s a sort of myth and fear that horizontal stripes are going to make you look bigger, and it’s really not true.” Instead, a horizontal stripe on top just needs a perfect pairing, she explained. “It’s about understanding how if have print on top that you have solid on bottom, or if you want to wear a printed bottom you wear solid on top.” Words that her clients Williams and Fey clearly live by!

Mar 18, 2013 @ 1:09 pm
Girls season 2 finaleCourtesy HBO

The Girls season 2 finale aired last night! And while each Girl—save the missing Jessa (Jemima Kirke)—had a pivotal, emotional moment to wrap up the last ten episodes (Marnie [Allison Williams] and Charlie, awww), there were also, as always, standout style moments, too. That’s why we caught up with costume designer Jenn Rogien for the last time this season to ask her what her favorite looks were, and she gave us her top outfit for each. “Every time I think I get to the most fun look, or the weirdest or the most uncomfortable, another look comes along that’s all of those things all over again,” Rogien told InStyle.com this morning (think Hannah’s [Lena Dunham] mesh tank top). Click through for Jenn’s favorite looks.

The season 2 finale of Girls is airing tonight at 9/8c on HBO! And it feels like we’ve been on quite a journey with the Girls this season, as they navigate young adulthood while living in the fine New York borough of Brooklyn. Question is, as Hannah (Lena Dunham), Marnie (Allison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke), and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) continue to grow, who do you most relate to? Do you want to be a writer like Hannah, or are you a free spirit like Jessa? Maybe you’re like Shoshanna, who’s enjoying life as a co-ed with her older beau, or Marnie, who wants to be an artist so much, so goes so far as to strip down Kanye West songs at parties! Which Girl are you? Tell us in the poll below!

The Secret to Allison Williams’ Glowing Skin

Feb 18, 2013 @ 1:00 pm

Allison Williams‘s air time isn’t limited to her hilarious scenes on Girls, anymore! Lately, the actress has been showing off her lit-from-within complexion as the face of Simple Skincare, and her healthy glow can be chalked up to her long-time devotion to the British brand. “I was first introduced to Simple Skincare by a friend in the UK,” Williams told InStyle.com exclusively. “I loved their skin-sensitive products and their holistic approach to beauty, so when it launched in the States and they approached me to be their brand ambassador, it was a dream come true!” Check out the star and her radiant skin in the video above.
