Some of Kristin Chenoweth’s Outfits in Family Weekend Came from Her Own Closet

Mar 29, 2013 @ 4:15 pm

Kristin Chenoweth can do it all—sing, dance, and act—and for her latest film, Family Weekend (out today), she plays another kind of do-it-all—a worker-bee mom who is so busy, her daughter (played by Olesya Rulin) decided to take her hostage in order to spend more time together. “This is someone who wants it all, a woman who enjoys success, but is also the breadwinner and she’s also not the best mom,” Chenoweth told InStyle.com when we caught up with her in New York City last week. One thing that helped Chenoweth get into the Power Woman mindset? The wardrobe, a mix of Tory Burch, Banana Republic, Stella McCartney, and even pieces pulled from her own closet. “When you do independent film, budgets are very closely monitored and watched, but I had some things in my closet that I thought were her, and ‘Why go spend the money if they don’t need to?’” she noted. “They would’ve, but I had it all that I wanted to wear.” No wonder this movie mom is so stylish! Kristin Chenoweth on Black Friday Shopping: “I Went to Target at Midnight”

Nov 29, 2012 @ 10:45 am

Despite her in-jest protests that she’s “too famous” to shop Black Friday, Kristin Chenoweth actually participated in this year’s record-setting post-Thanksgiving shopping day! “I was in Oklahoma, and I did go to Target with my cousins at midnight,” the Broadway belter (in a 3.1 Phillip Lim top) told InStyle.com at Tourneau’s Meet Under The Mistletoe celebration this week—which, by the way, featured the world’s largest ball of mistletoe, measuring six feet across (and an appearance by Santa Claus!). “And that was an experience I don’t really need to have again. I’ve done it and I’m done.” The pint-sized Chenoweth was a bit overwhelmed by the experience, it seems—“My head spins out of control!”—which is why she stayed clear of the registers in favor of watching over her cousins findings. “I was on patrol. There was a lady who tried to take something out of my cousin’s cart and I was like, ‘No, that’s ours!‘” she said. Instead, she’s waiting for some alone time to shop. “I’m kind of a loner, because I don’t want to have to answer to anybody,” she explained. “Otherwise I would feel stressed!” Sounds like the holidays to us!

Kathy Griffin and Kristin Chenoweth’s Funny Thoughts About Black Friday

Nov 21, 2012 @ 3:30 pm

While you get your recon ready for Black Friday—make a list and check it twice!—there is one pair of celebrity besties you won’t see digging through the racks, Kathy Griffin and Kristin Chenoweth. “I’m too famous to shop!” Griffin joked to InStyle.com at the L.A. launch of Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s charityTie the Knot. “I haven’t shopped myself since Suddenly Susan season two. [Stylist] Robert Verdi buys all my clothes for me and sends me a bill without question.” Chenoweth agreed with a smile. “I’m not too famous to shop; I am too famous for Black Friday, though,” she said. “But I love shopping. I get an actual high when I buy something!” Together, they came up with a solution: “Our advice to every day working American women—make sure your assistants drop you off at the door and then your assistant can pick you up later.” If only! Jokes aside—have a happy shopping season!

Kristin Chenoweth Designs Shoe For Charity

Dec 8, 2010 @ 10:40 am

Kristin Chenoweth is a triple threat—she sings, she acts, and now, she designs. The top Broadway star and Emmy-winning actress designed a pair of booties for ShoeDazzle.com, the Kim Kardashian-founded footwear website. The gray suede ankle boots, which she named ‘Little Diva,’ are also for a good cause: 100 percent of the $39.95 proceeds will be donated to the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute. As an adoptee herself, Chenoweth said that working on this charity item was a dream come true. “Being able to be creative and fashionable for a cause so close to my heart really was a once in a lifetime opportunity,” she told InStyle exclusively. “I hope all the ladies out there love the ‘Little Diva’ as much as I do.” Chenoweth’s booties just went on sale this week.
