What Stella McCartney Wore to Meet the Queen

Mar 27, 2013 @ 10:40 am

Does it get any better than this, Stella McCartney? Yesterday, the British designer was awarded Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE)—an honor presented by Queen Elizabeth II herself!—due to her dedication and contributions to British fashion. After all, this is the woman to designed Great Britain’s uniforms for the London Olympics and dressed the Future Queen, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge multiple times, so this recognition makes the royal family official fans. So, for her bout at Buckingham Palace, McCartney’s outfit represented her own talents—she chose a cobalt blue skirt-suit she designed as well as a headpiece hand-sewn by her milliner pal Philip Treacy, which consisted of two Cartier jewels and a veil she bought as a teen, WWD reports. Papa Paul must be so proud.

Plus, see Duchess Kate’s best looks. (She’s a big a Stella fan!)

Kate Middleton’s Blue Shift and Diamond Necklace: All the Details!

Jul 19, 2012 @ 11:15 am

It looks like Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge went shopping this week! The royal attended a special Olympic Games exhibition at London’s National Portrait Gallery wearing a new look—Stella McCartney’s cobalt blue shift. We love the symbolism of choosing this British designer, the same person behind the Great Britain’s Olympic uniforms. The Duchess paired the dress with a Cartier trinity necklace, which features pink, yellow, and white gold dotted with diamonds. While you can shop the dress for $658 at matches.com, the necklace is a little steeper, available at cartier.com for $76,895. (Perhaps it was a 30th birthday gift?) Tell us: Do you like the look?

Elizabeth Banks on Wearing Low-Back Dresses: ‘It’s All Balance’

Jun 26, 2012 @ 11:40 am

Elizabeth Banks knows how to work beautiful dresses with low-cut backs on the red carpet, as seen when she wore a deeply dipped Bill Blass lemon gown for The Hunger Games London premiere and an Elie Saab cocktail number for last night’s New York People Like Us screening. “I haven’t worn something like this in a while,” the actress told InStyle.com at the Cinema Society and Grey Goose-hosted event. So what’s the trick to pulling off this type of look? She’ll tell you it’s more than just confidence. “It’s all in the balance,” she noted. “You can’t wear a deep-V and a high slit. You want to have balance. Like this has a low back but it also has a high back,” she said of the elaborately embroidered design, which she accessorized with Cartier jewelry. “It’s all about the ying and yang of the outfit.” Now that’s fashion zen! Tell us: Have you ever tried the low-back look?

Would You Wear Cartier’s New “It” Bracelet?

Apr 12, 2012 @ 12:10 pm

Cartier’s got a new “it” bracelet! The luxury jewelry company is relaunching the Juste un Clou (translation: just a nail), an astonishing design by Aldo Cipullo—the same visionary behind Cartier’s instantly iconic Love bracelet that adorned the wrists of many ‘70s superstars, from Elizabeth Taylor to Ali McGraw. The industrial-inspired piece is available in white, rose, and yellow gold, and some with diamonds. Cartier is celebrating its reintroduction by staging an exhibition of Cipullo’s imaginative work at the Cartier Mansion in New York, from April 13th to May 8th (visit cartier.us for more information). Tell us: Would you wear this new “it” accessory?
