Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 Premiere Fashion: Why Elizabeth Reaser Chose Carolina Herrera

Nov 13, 2012 @ 2:31 pm

When it comes to designer wear, the Twilight vampires have it good! Just look at the gown Elizabeth Reaser chose for her final Hollywood Twilight premiere last night—a sky blue design from Carolina Herrera’s spring 2012 collection. “I fell in love with Carolina Herrera many, many years ago,” the actress who plays Esme, Edward’s adoptive mother and now Bella’s adoptive mother-in-law, told InStyle.com. “She’s the most elegant woman. I’m such a fan. I want to be her.” And choosing a Herrera piece is also a nod to the Twilight films—Herrera designed Bella’s wedding dress seen in Breaking Dawn – Part 1. “I’m not sentimental about things like that, but my stylist Ryan Hastings brought this over and I saw it and that was it—done!” However, it’s not just Kristen Stewart’s Bella that she wanted to pay homage to: “This would be Esme’s dream dress,” Reaser told InStyle.com of her character. “[Carolina] is the quintessential Esme designer. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opens Friday, November 16 at a theater near you.

“I think it’s so incredible!” Carolina Herrera told InStyle.com of Fashion Group International 29th Annual Night of Stars Gala last night, held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, which honors the industry’s biggest stars. The always-elegant Herrera radiated a joyful glow all evening, and for good reason—she earned the acclaimed fashion organization’s prestigious Superstar Award, presented to her by her close friend Renee Zellweger. “Carolina Herrera helps women see themselves with confidence and celebrates their great life by making them unforgettable,” Zellweger told the attendees, which also included Kelly Ripa and Seth Meyers’s girlfriend Alexi Ashe dressed in Herrera designs. “She is a visionary.” The gala’s theme, Dream Catchers, also captured the feeling of dreams realized by the night’s Star honorees, Derek Lam (“I will continue to work hard to truly deserve this recognition,” he said), Gareth Pugh, and Haider Ackermann (the latter accepted his honor from Karl Lagerfeld). Meanwhile, Sarah Jessica Parker presented the Lord & Taylor Fashion Oracle award to L’Wren Scott—“She has the ability to telescope what’s necessary, what’s needed, and what people want,” Parker told InStyle.com—while Viola Davis presented the Brand Heritage Award to Max Mara’s Nicola Maramotti. “It seems like every time I put on a Max Mara dress or a coat or a suit, it enhances what I am, it does not hide what I am,” she said of the brand. “Fashion can not be worn, it has to enhance what’s already inside you.” With so many fashion stars in one place, Davis also emphasized that everyone has a little star quality in them, too. “It’s the people who are not afraid to take risks, the people who are confident and comfortable with themselves,” she told InStyle.com. We couldn’t agree more.

Bridal Fashion Week: Carolina Herrera’s Runway-to-Wedding Inspiration

Oct 16, 2012 @ 10:00 am

Carolina Herrera held her fall 2013 bridal presentation yesterday, which included this pretty peplum-style lace gown. The silhouette looked like something we’ve seen before from Carolina… and that’s because it is. The gown is modeled after this red and white number from the designer’s resort collection, only repurposed for the bridal world, with Herrera trading in the red lace overlay for all-white version and a more voluminous tulle skirt. A delicate belt ties the look together in both incarnations.

Buy This T-Shirt and the World is $35 Closer to A Cure For Cancer

Sep 11, 2012 @ 12:38 pm

Grabbing one of Carolina Herrera‘s designs just got a lot easier—and more charitable: At her spring 2013 show, the designer debuted the limited-edition T-shirt she designed for the Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key To The Cure campaign. “It’s a tree with a map of the world and all the little hearts inside the map,” she told InStyle.com. “I did the world because breast cancer goes everywhere in the world—it’s not only the United States or South America. It’s all over.” As if to underscore the global message, Spanish actress Penelope Cruz will serve as the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s ambassador for 2012. “Women should be safe,” Herrera said. “We all can be safe [with the right precautions]. We have the right to be.” The T-shirt, which retails for $35, goes on sale October 1st during the store’s annual charity shopping weekend—100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund.

Runway Looks We Love: Carolina Herrera

Sep 10, 2012 @ 4:19 pm

“Timeless Influence” can apply to both Carolina Herrera‘s aptly titled spring collection and the designer’s work as a whole. As can always be expected from the icon of ladylike style, the clothes were graceful, feminine and romantic. Herrera describes the looks as “all about lightness and fluidity,” and accordingly the fabrics and colors were equally delicate with chiffon, georgette, seafoam and glacier all in play, while pops of twill and orange kept the crowd on their toes! See our favorite looks in the gallery!

Twilight Author Stephenie Meyer Drops By Carolina Herrera

Sep 10, 2012 @ 3:27 pm

We know Stephenie Meyer loves Carolina Herrera, after all she handpicked the designer to make a little something called Bella’s wedding dress, but we were surprised to spot her backstage at the Spring 2013 show. We shouldn’t have been—Meyer wore one of the designer’s gowns to the New Moon premiere and posed with her at the Los Angeles screening of Breaking Dawn Part 1, blogging, “Getting to meet style icon Carolina Herrera was one of the highest points in a night filled with high points.” Clearly, Herrera felt the same way!
