Inspired by the black-and-white photography of Cecil Beaton, Carolina Herrera’s spring 2013 bridal collection included delicate touches of black. “I wanted to design a collection based on the beauty he portrayed—the blacks, the whites, the fantasy of it all,” Herrera said. “This is not a collection that is occupied by trends, but one with a more personal purpose.” And the designer found new ways to add a personal touch: She accessorized many of the 21 dresses (and one pantsuit) with jewelry from her own collection, and secrectly embroidered the waist of each look with the bride’s initials in blue. Carolina Herrera’s fall 2012 show opened with chic black and navy separates perfect for 9-to-5, which then led into brighter hues like Imperial purple and “haute pink.” Brushstroke prints covered sheer chiffon blouses and dresses, while feathers embroidered on classic crewneck sweaters provided a preppy take on the staple. Obi belts by Bennett Library, custom Manolo Blahnik wedge boots, and tall leather gloves accessorized each look. And watching from the front row? Dianna Agron chose a fuchsia Carolina Herrera gown for the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, a decision she made thanks to the designer herself. “When [Herrera] calls and says, ‘Can I make you a dress?’ you say yes because she’s so amazing,” the Glee star told InStyle.com at the official after-party. “I’ve worn three of her dresses before. They are so feminine and wonderful. It’s just such an honor that a designer would want to make a dress for you.” We’re waiting for your call, Carolina!
