Awards season continued at the annual Brit Awards in London last night! Justin Timberlake continued his world takeover, walking the carpet in Tom Ford (of course) before taking to the stage to give his first live performance of his newest single, “Mirror Mirror.” (His wife Jessica Biel tweeted her support.) Taylor Swift was on-hand as a nominee for International Female Solo Artist (she lost to Lana Del Rey), and after the show she partied with Carey Mulligan and her husband, lead singer Marcus Mumford of folk band Mumford & Sons, who took home the award for British Group. While some of us have to wait until this Sunday, February 10th to shop Prabal Gurung’s LOVE collection for Target, that’s not the case for celebrities! The Nepalese designer’s A-list fans, including Carey Mulligan, Elizabeth Olsen, Rashida Jones, and Olivia Thirlby all came out to the his boardwalk-themed launch party in New York wearing the colorful pieces in the LOVE line. “I love the way he is inspired to take art and turn it into something you can wear on your body,” Thirlby, who starred in the collection’s campaign video, told InStyle.com at the event, before heading over to the stage to listen to Ne-Yo perform his hit song, “Let Me Love You.” As for Gurung himself, it all comes down to love: “It might be exasperating for a lot of other guys, but I find it really enchanting,” he said. “I just wanted to remind women, whether they’re in a relationship or whether they’re single, not to forget the essence of love.” And in these sweet date-ready designs, how could we!

Plus, see the entire LOVE collection in the gallery! Shop it in stores and target.com Sunday, February 10.

Although The Great Gatsby doesn’t hit theaters until May 10, we’re already getting excited for all of the fabulous 1920s fashion courtesy of Miuccia Prada! The designer collaborated with director Baz Luhrmann to create forty looks for the film, each adapted from past Prada and Miu Miu collections. In anticipation for the film’s release, Prada revealed the design of four of the dresses, and from the looks of the sketches the designer is going for full-on glamour—perfect for Carey Mulligan‘s portrayal of one of literature’s most supremely pampered characters, Daisy Buchanan. From sequins to silk to fur, we can’t wait to see all of the other roaring 20s-inspired looks!

The Great Gatsby’s New Trailer Looks Awesome

Dec 20, 2012 @ 11:17 am

After a delay in the release of Baz Luhrman’s film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel The Great Gatsbywhich was originally supposed to come out this month and will now hit theaters May 10 of next year—there are a few more teasers out! The second trailer has just been released (watch it above), featuring stars Leonardo DiCaprio (as Jay Gatsby), Carey Mulligan (as Daisy Buchanan), Tobey Maguire (as Nick Carraway), and Isla Fisher (as Myrtle Wilson) in all their glittering, Luhrman-stylized glory. The director who brought us Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge appears to be sticking to his trademark visual style, relying upon slow-motion captures and lots of gold hues to tell the ostentatious tale of the upper echelons of New York society in the roaring 1920s. Maguire also took to his Twitter (for the first time since June!) to release six new posters for the film, each of which features an iconic line from the novel. Watch the trailer above and click through the gallery below to see all the posters! Downton Abbey 1920s-Inspired Wedding Dresses

Nov 7, 2012 @ 10:41 am

News flash! 1920s fashion is having a major moment! With the anticipation of Downton Abbey‘s return on January 6 and the 2013 release of The Great Gatsby, starring Carey Mulligan and Leonardo DiCaprio, how could it not? When hit PBS series Downton Abbey kicks off its third season stateside, the Crawley clan will be ushering in a new decade and a new marriage—Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Cousin Matthew (Dan Stevens) are set to wed. And while flapper fringe and knotted pearls (à la The Great Gatsby) may immediately come to mind when you think ’20s fashion, Downton Abbey appears to be taking a more subtle approach, and if you’re planning to say “I do” in a wedding dress in the style of the Jazz Age, we suggest doing the same to avoid looking costumey. You may not be able to snag Lady Mary’s custom-made gown, but a number of designers including Reem Acra and Alice Temperley took a cue from the era for their most recent (Fall 2013) bridal collections. Robert Pattinson, Carey Mulligan to Star in Hold On To Me

Oct 22, 2012 @ 3:52 pm

Twihards rejoice! Robert Pattinson is confirmed to star opposite Carey Mulligan in Hold On To Me (no release date yet), directed by James Marsh, who previously won Oscars for his documentary films Man On Wire and Project Nim. The new movie is based on a true story and casts Mulligan as one half of a bandit couple who kidnap the richest man in their town for ransom and bury him alive—to dire consequences. Pattinson portrays her (scandal alert!) other love interest, Jimmy. Considering the actress’ turn in Drive with the one and only Ryan Gosling (and her role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the forthcoming The Great Gatsby), we can’t help but think Mulligan has cornered the market on sexy co-stars!

The Great Gatsby Release Date Moved to Next Summer!

Aug 6, 2012 @ 4:00 pm

Say it ain’t so! After teasing us with a glittering, gorgeous trailer back in May, Warner Bros. Pictures just announced that Baz Luhrman’s Great Gatsby remake, originally slated for a Christmas Day release, is getting bumped all the way to summer 2013. Not only does the film boast a stellar cast we love (ahem, Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire), but it’s filled to its champagne brim with period designer duds, like the boys’ Brooks Brothers bespoke suits—and we didn’t want to wait any longer to see it all in 3D. But since we must, expect to spot us digging out our paperbacks and watching the fabulous trailer shown above on repeat.
