The 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival is off to a fashionable start thanks to Calvin Klein and the Independent Filmmaker Project! Together, they teamed up with euphoria Calvin Klein to host a party honoring women who have made an impact on film. Carey Mulligan, Rooney Mara, and Nicole Kidman—all dressed in Calvin Klein designs for the occasion—were among the guests who made their way to the L’Ecrin in France to support the positive cause. And Mara had even more to celebrate: The actress was just named the face of CK’s newest fragrance Downtown, a modern scent which mixes notes of woods with soft florals. Flashes of flesh are popping up all over the red carpet in the form of cut-out dresses. Stars love this look for its mix of sophistication and sexiness, and we saw plenty of skin-showing styles at the 2013 Met Gala last night. Gwen Stefani showed off her abs in Maison Martin MargielaSolange Knowles added a pop of stomach in Kenzo, Olivia Wilde bared her belly in Calvin Klein, and Emma Watson favored asymmetry in Prabal Gurung. And that’s not all. Click to see more stars in cut-out dresses—because what’s fiercer than showing a little skin?

Inside the Party: Calvin Klein Supports Marriage Equality with Uma Thurman, Neil Patrick Harris, and More

Like the Calvin Klein aesthetic, even the brand’s cocktail parties are streamlined and elegant—the brand along with the Human Rights Campaign, co-hosted a chic soiree to celebrate the advocacy group’s two-year-old Americans for Marriage Equality program at its Madison Avenue flagship store last night, and many loyal celebrity CK fans stopped by to show their support. “Tonight they lured me upon the issue of marriage equality,” said Uma Thurman, who showed up with daughter Maya Thurman-Hawke. “To me, it’s an absolute no brainer. Hopefully, it will be alleviated soon and everyone will be allowed to marry and divorce equally!” Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka, Andy Cohen, Dan Stevens, and more swung through, grabbed a Champagne flute and a rainbow-hued macaron, and toasted to the cause with Calvin Klein’s creative directors, Francisco Costa (womenswear) and Italo Zucchelli (menswear). “The company has taken upon this cause, and it’s really important to us,” said Costa, shown above with Thurman. “It makes us feel proud.” Go pride! Jennifer Lawrence Has Another Calvin Klein Oscars Moment: Find Out What the Designer Thinks!

Feb 25, 2013 @ 2:09 pm

Jennifer Lawrence was the It-Girl of the Oscars last night—not only for her Best Leading Actress win, but also for her fashion. After carefully walking (and stumbling on stage) in her extra-voluminous Dior Haute Couture gown, the Silver Linings Playbook actress changed into a more movement-friendly shimmering gunmetal beaded design, courtesy of Calvin Klein creative director of womenswear Francisco Costa, for the Vanity Fair after-party. And Costa was thrilled to have the newly-appointed Oscar winner in his design at the Oscars yet again—he first dressed her for the 2011 Oscars in the memorable red column. “It’s a magical moment that clicks,” Costa told InStyle.com when we caught up with him after a day of fittings at Mario Testino’s exhibition opening the night before the Academy Awards. “It just sometimes a perfect moment. Like Jennifer before, it was perfect. It’s one of those moments we need.” And he got it!

Tell us by voting in the poll below: Which of her two Calvin Klein looks do you like better?

Runway Looks We Love: Calvin Klein

Feb 15, 2013 @ 9:20 am

For the last day of New York Fashion Week, Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa delivered a strong fall collection with a clever mix of masculine and feminine elements. With label devotees Olivia Wilde and Jessica Chastain sitting front row, the designer showed a cool take on modern dressing, with curve-accentuating looks. Appealing to a woman’s tougher side were a bonded vinyl overcoat and head-to-toe leather looks. The outerwear offering proved to be a highlight, with a chic topper for every occasion—from plaid wool (perfect for 9-to-5) to a head-turning sheared alpaca stunner. Sleek platform pumps with gold plaque embellishment and knee-high vinyl boots finished off the streamlined looks. See our favorites in the gallery!
