It’s that time of the year again — the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is took place at the Lexington Armory in New York City Wednesday night! Before the models hit the runway, InStyle.com went backstage to find out what goes into making a VS Angel. We spoke to makeup artist Dick Page and hairstylist Orlando Pita, who gave us all the details on this year’s looks — along with tips on how you can recreate it on yourself. “I kept the makeup really light and transparent this year, because it would be weird if the makeup was super crazy-glamorous, and then they have underwear on,” Page told InStyle.com. “Besides, they’re all very pretty young women, so they don’t need much more makeup. That’s the simplest thing you can do.” Take an exclusive trip backstage in our gallery to see how everything came together, then catch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on CBS, airing December 10 at 10 p.m. EST.
Exclusive: Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Goes 3D With Lindsay Ellingson’s Snow Angel Costume and WingsNov 13, 2013 @ 5:38 pm
For the first time in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show history, a design crafted entirely with 3D printing technology made its way down the glittering runway! As part of the Snow Angel section of last night’s annual show in New York City, model Lindsay Ellingson walked down the catwalk in her Nicholas Kirkwood pumps wearing a lasered nylon geometric filigree encrusted with millions of micro-Swarovski crystals. Commissioned by Victoria’s Secret and Swarovski, the two partners tapped into architect Bradley Rothenberg and designer Duann Scott of the world-leading 3D printing company, Shapeways, to create the design-breaking creation that was five months in the making. “Upon seeing the designs we were sure that Shapeways could 3D print exactly what they were looking for – all we needed was a 3D model,” Scott said to InStyle.com. What happened next was a digital scan of Ellingson’s form was taken so Rothenberg and Scott could create a costume built to fit her exactly. “For this project specifically, we really wanted to push what we could do with 3D printing — in making something that could, at some times, act like a textile, while at other times become more of a structural form,” Rothenberg added. Mission accomplished! Tune in on December 10th on CBS to see Ellingson, Lily Aldridge, Karlie Kloss, Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo, and Candice Swanepoel walk down the runway!

Candice Swanepoel has earned the honor of wearing the Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra down the catwalk! The gorgeous South African model will follow in the footsteps of other illustrious Victoria’s Secret models, but her walk down the runway might be one of the most memorable in recent years—the Royal Fantasy Bra and matching Belt is worth a jaw-dropping $10 million dollars, making it one of the most expensive bras in the fashion show’s history, topped only by Gisele Bundchen’s $12.5 million in 2005. The pricey and beautiful piece of lingerie, which was created by world-renowned jeweler Mouawad, is adorned with over 4,200 precious gems, including rubies, diamonds, and yellow sapphires all handset in 18-karat gold. But the real gem? A 52-karat, pear shaped center ruby. We can’t wait to see Candice Swanepoel strut her stuff in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which airs on December 10 on CBS.

When it comes to sexy makeup, the Victoria’s Secret Angels have the market cornered, and the look created by the brand’s makeup artist Polly Osmond in the video above is one we’ll be wearing all season long! Dark eyes and oxblood lips were all over the fall runways, so Osmond balanced the two elements on Lily Aldridge to impart a smoldering effect with a vibrant hint of color. “You can transition this look by using a lighter color for the day, then build it up for night time,” she said. “Don’t use so much blusher, keep that simple.” Equipped with a set of VS Pro makeup brushes, Osmond began by blending the Color Flash Eye Shadow in Dark Side ($12; victoriassecret.com), and followed with an ample coating of mascara and a sweep of the brand’s Graphic Liner Pen ($14; victoriassecret.com). The Dramatic Matte Lipstick in Sparks Fly ($14; victoriassecret.com) was then applied with a brush to soften the color, providing the finishing touch. “I always start in the middle and work outwards,” Osmond added. Get the complete step-by-step breakdown by watching the tutorial above!

Victoria’s Secret will launch its new Body by Victoria collection of comfy bras, demi bras and push-ups in stores tomorrow. Before the lineup hits the racks across America, we got an exclusive first look when we joined VS models Karlie Kloss, Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel and Erin Heatherton at Stage 12 in Steiner Studios at the Brooklyn Navy Yard as they filmed promos for the line. “It’s like a girl-next-door look,” said Prinsloo, pre-engagement to Adam Levine. “That’s what we want people to see — it’s relatable, comfortable, beautiful underwear.” Click the gallery to go behind-the-scenes at the BBV shoot through the lens of InStyle.com photographer Alex Reside, and shop the collection in stores and on victoriassecret.com, available July 30th.

Bride-to-be Behati Prinsloo — fresh off news that she just got engaged to Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine – chose a love-inspired bold red lip to complement her floral Blumarine number at the launch of the new Victoria’s Secret Victoria scent in New York City. “This is actually a matte lip pencil,” the model told us. “I love the color!” Prinsloo chose Bite Beauty’s High Pigment Matte Pencil in Pomegranate, a warm crimson tone. The user-friendly crayon shape eliminates the need for lip liner, and the matte finish makes for a long-wearing hue that won’t quit — even after hours of wear. Pick one up for yourself for $24 at sephora.com.
