Now This Is Designer Lipstick! Bobbi Brown Re-Releases Carolina Herrera’s Favorite Discontinued Lip Color Today

Apr 10, 2013 @ 11:45 am

When Bobbi Brown discontinues lip colors, they’re usually gone for good. But not when it’s Carolina Herrera’s favorite hue! After the designer found out her favorite Plum Stain—her go-to for over 20 years—was being taken out of production, she drained the stock at every store and enlisted everyone she knew to help her find more. “I searched many years for a color that I could wear for all occasions, and when I found this one, my search was over,” Herrera told InStyle.com. “I loved it so much.” When her stockpile eventually ran out, Brown sent Herrera custom versions of her favorite color… until now. Today, the makeup maven releases the Carolina Sheer Lip color, the same deep rosy plum Herrera loved, re-issued and named in the designer’s honor. “Bobbi and I are both in the beauty industry—we make women look and feel more beautiful,” said a thrilled Herrera of the re-release. “I hope [women] will love that it makes a subtle statement. The lipstick is like a white shirt—it can transition for any occasion.” Shop the color, available starting today, for $25 at bobbibrowncosmetics.com.

Found It! Ginnifer Goodwin’s Navy Eyeliner

Mar 11, 2013 @ 11:36 am

Now this is a look we love! The cat-eye liner Ginnifer Goodwin wore for the Milk + Bookies 4th Annual Story Time Celebration had just a tint of blue in it, and we’re obsessed with how it mirrored the cerulean stripes in her outfit and the azure of her eyes. “I went with blue eyeliner by Bobbi Brown,” Goodwin told InStyle.com at the event. “It’s kind of fun for a morning!” She chose Brown’s Denim Ink shade, an ultra-dark navy that contrasts against Goodwin’s eye color so much, it made them appear even bluer. “It’s early, so I need that,” she added with a laugh. If you want to emphasize your baby blues like the star, follow her lead and apply a sweep of cornflower-hued liner. The almost-black shade brings out the natural cool tones in your eyes. The Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Denim Ink is available for $23 at bobbibrown.com.

Katie Holmes Kicks Off New Season of Holmes & Yang in New York

Katie Holmes and her design partner (and stylist) Jeanne Yang debuted their new fall collection for Holmes & Yang to editors yesterday in an intimate setting held at the Palace Hotel in New York City. The collection was inspired by working women and mothers, Yang told InStyle.com after the show, an inspiration that lent itself to go-anywhere pieces for day and night and a wearable beauty look created by Bobbi Brown (fittingly, as Holmes is the face of the brand). “The best thing about our collection is that it does not need a lot of explanation,” Yang said. “The clothing speaks for itself.” It does—but it also speaks to Katie’s style, and she’s already eyeing some of the pieces she co-created for fall, like this plaid pencil skirt with an off-the-shoulder top (above left). “It is very flattering and shows off a woman’s elegance,” the actress said of the look. Black Lip Gloss: Try the Trend!

Nov 6, 2012 @ 5:19 pm

Don’t be fooled by their dark, vampy finishes—these black lip glosses are more glam than goth! Noir lip colors are typically reserved for Halloween, but we love how these sheer formulas instantly double our lipstick collection. Each gloss imparts a slight purple tint when worn alone, but when layered over lipstick, they transform your punchy neons into subdued fall hues. Swipe Urban Decay’s Perversion ($19; urbandecay.com) or Givenchy’s Celestial Black ($28; sephora.com) to turn a hot pink into a dusty mauve, or use over a too-bright orange to tone down the intensity. You can also mix the glosses with a bright red for your own custom wine lipstick. Bobbi Brown’s Black Pearl ($23; bobbibrowncosmetics.com) is a metallic plum that is transparent enough to wear alone.
