Solange Knowles on Her Style: ‘Comfort is Definitely Key’

How has Solange Knowles, mother of 7-year-old Juelz and aunt to Blue Ivy Carter, adapted her everyday style since becoming a mom? “Comfort is becoming of real importance to me,” she told InStyle.com last night, at a “Shop Spring” party held at Stuart Weitzman‘s boutique in New York City. “I find that the older my son gets, the more we have on our schedule, versus when they’re babies you’re kind of just going for walks and things like that,” she said. “Now there are soccer practices and piano lessons and playdates and sleepovers and birthdays—comfort is definitely key,” the DJ added. Beyoncé Baby News: Blue Ivy Carter’s Designer Accessories!

Blue Ivy Carter has a closet of designer baby gear! This week, Beyoncé took a walk with her little one in New York City, where the tot was spotted in silver Marc Jacobs mouse flats and a Roberto Cavalli baby bottle holder. The Cavalli store in NYC has been fielding calls from people wanting to buy the item ever since Bey was spotted with it; though the salespeople assured us it is only available in Europe. As for the pint-size shoes, they are sold out, but a similar Little Marc style is available for $70 on zappos.com.

Blue Ivy baby products may be in our future! Beyoncé and Jay-Z applied to have their daughter’s name trademarked, CNBC reports. So what to buy a baby who’s on her way to having her own brand? The New York Daily News learned that Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s pal Gwyneth Paltrow treated the new family to a Cameleon stroller by Bugaboo ($979 at amazon.com). The luxe ride shares a name with one of Beyoncé’s biggest Destiny’s Child hits. What a thoughtful gift!

The stars of Dreamgirls reconnected recently—with matching manicures! Jennifer Hudson appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno with a shimmering azure shade, while Beyonce made her first appearance since becoming a mom with striking royal blue painted on her fingernails. “I love this color,” Beyonce’s manicurist Lisa Logan tweeted along with a photo showing off the hue. (FYI: it’s Baker Street by Nails Inc., $9.50; available at sephora.com in March.) Could her polish be a tribute to her newborn daughter Blue Ivy Carter? Perhaps!

Babeyoncé is here! Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z welcomed their newborn daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, on Saturday night in New York City, E! reports. Back in September, we caught up with the multi-talented singer for our cover story, when she mentioned how excited she was to grow her family: “Now I’m a woman, and because I gave it my all, I can focus on my marriage. I can decide I want to have kids. I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children,” she told InStyle. And friends are supportive—pal Gwyneth Paltrow Tweeted, ”Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already,” she wrote. Congratulations!
