Peplum is popular this year! Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge visited De Montfort University in Leicester, England today wearing a teal dress and fitted peplum jacket by L.K. Bennett, while Blake Lively (in Jason Wu), Jennifer Aniston (in Tom Ford), and Michelle Williams (in Louis Vuitton) also wore the fit-flare style recently. So, why is it such a statement look? “It has the power to minimize your waist but achieves it by inciting a flurry of attention around your hips,” InStyle Fashion Director Hal Rubenstein has said. “This little flourish is worth the risk if it winds up accentuating something positive.” Tell us: Do you own a peplum dress?

Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) looked gorgeous in her Vera Wang wedding gown on last night’s episode of Gossip Girl, but did Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) pull a Pippa and upstage the bride? Maybe, according to the show’s costume designer Eric Daman, who had the royal sister-in-law in mind when he picked out Serena’s Vera Wang maid of honor look. “I turned around and saw this beautiful pink chiffon gown, it was actually a bridal dress. It looked like peonies to me,” Daman told us of how he chose Serena’s style. “In old-world weddings, the bridesmaids would be wearing gowns, while the maid of honor would be wearing something a bit more glamorous. It’s very Kate and Pippa.” Tell us, did you prefer Blair or Serena’s royal wedding style?

If you can’t wait for the Jason Wu for Target capsule collection, you’re not the only one! Blake Lively, Emmy Rossum, Jaime King and Chloe Moretz were among the celebrities who toasted to the collaboration at the opening of a Jason Wu for Target pop-up store in New York last night, all wearing pieces from the lineup. “I get so excited when I see women wear my clothes,” Wu told us on the red carpet. “I’m such a nerd, I go up to them and I tell them that they look really great even though they don’t know who I am. I just think that for somebody to purchase something that I designed, at any price, is a true compliment and true testament to what I do.” We agree!
