Get Beyoncé’s Voluminous Curls With Her Hairstylist Kim Kimble’s New Hair Line

Jun 18, 2013 @ 4:00 pm

Channeling your inner Sasha Fierce just got a lot easier thanks to Kim Kimble’s haircare! The celebrity hairstylist, who counts Beyoncé and Shakira as clients, just launched her own line of products full of hair-healthy ingredients like Brazilian nut and acai berry. “I’m about healthy hair, and for a long time, it was difficult to find products that worked for a lot of different hair textures,” Kimble told InStyle.com. “A lot of products claim to work on different hair types, but this one really does since it’s so nourishing without being heavy.” Plus, she’s adding to her product catalog with a curly hair range in July. “There is a major demand for curly hair products, and we wanted ours to be very versatile and work on all types of curls,” she said. “Curly hair doesn’t get as much natural oil as straight hair does, so you have to keep curly hair moisturized so it won’t get brittle or break.” Shop her current line on kimblebeauty.com, and keep an eye out for the new curly-friendly items next month.

Who runs the world? Girls! Chime for Change’s The Sound of Change Live concert in London aired last night, and in addition to the showstopping performances by Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Mary J. Blige, the event also raised a cool $4.3 million in ticket sales. The proceeds will benefit 200 of Chime for Change’s projects to advance the lives of women and girls in over 70 countries, and host Gucci even allowed attendees to donate the value of their ticket to non-profit organizations of their choice. Salma Hayek, Gucci’s Frida Giannini, Zoe Saldana, and Blake Lively also attended, and were treated to a surprise duet performed by Bey and Jay-Z. Change never sounded so sweet! Chime for Change’s Concert for Women’s Empowerment Airs Tomorrow!

Jun 1, 2013 @ 4:00 pm

Beyonce and Madonna are  sounding off for a cause–and they’re bringing extra dose of girl power to boot! Tonight in London, Queen Bey, Jennifer Lopez, Rita Ora, and many more will take the stage at The Sound of Change Live, a concert held by Gucci’s Chime for Change campaign working to raise awareness for girls’ and womens’ issues. “I am really happy that so many amazing artists and presenters have come together to support Chime for Change,” Beyonce said. “Our goal is to have a great time together while we unite and strengthen the voices of girls and women around the world.” In addition to the star-studded performance lineup, Madonna is scheduled to present, along with Freida Pinto, Zoe Saldana, Jessica Chastain, and many others. Funds raised at the event will benefit non-profit organizations pursuing change, and encouraging education for women and girls around the world. “60% of the children in the world not in school are girls, and two-thirds of the world’s illiterate are women,” Madonna added. “We need to change this and we will change this!” We hear that! Tune in to NBC tomorrow night at 9 PM EST to see the full show.

Why You May See More Real-Size Women in H&M Ads

May 29, 2013 @ 3:30 pm

First it was Jennie Runk (pictured, right) then it was Beyonce. Is H&M trying to make curvy models more mainstream? Possibly.

“We have a huge responsibility here,” H&M’s CEO Karl-Johan Persson said in a recent interview with Metro. “We’re a large company, many people see us, and we advertise a lot. I don’t think we’ve always been good. Some of the models we’ve had have been too skinny. That’s something we think a lot about and are working on. We want to show diversity in our advertising and not give people the impression that girls have to look a particular way.”

Which could explain the company’s recent use of Runk in the ad campaign for its summer swimwear collection. H&M didn’t make a big deal of it—but the Internet reacted. “Her real-woman body serves as an inspiring and refreshing reminder that size is not an indicator of beauty, and we particularly love the positive message that this campaign sends,” we wrote when the campaign first launched earlier this month. However, Persson’s remarks do not necessarily mean we can expect to see real-size women in H&M ads all the time. “There are models who’re too thin or obviously underweight, but there are also those who’re just thin, and they’re the ones we should keep working with, as long as they look sound and healthy,” Persson said.

What do you think of H&M’s push to feature “sound and healthy” models? Tell us in the comments.
