It’s always a pleasant surprise to find that your nail polish and cell phone case complement each other, but now you can sport exact color pairs thanks to OPI‘s latest launch. The famed nail brand collaborated with My Case Couture to develop nail lacquer and phone case duos decked out in their most iconic hues, from the true blue “Dating a Royal” shade to the vivid “Pink Flamenco.” Each case puts a literal meaning into the term “a splash of color,” and includes a free mini nail lacquer in the exact shade showcased across the back. Plus, My Case Couture also offers screen protectors paired with OPI’s heavy-duty top coat, so your phone can be just as durable as your manicure. Pick up the sets at mycasecouture.com, priced at $40 for cases and $20 for screen protectors.

Manicure We Love: Kate Hudson’s Chevron Gray-and-Pink Nail Art

Apr 19, 2013 @ 11:40 am

Kate Hudson accessorized her Tiffany blue Reem Acra gown with $256,195 worth of Tiffany & Co. jewels for last night’s Tiffany & Co.-hosted Blue Book Ball at Rockefeller Center, and while her add-ons all looked amazing, we couldn’t help but notice the funky nail art that finished her look. “They’re so fun,” Hudson told InStyle.com of the chevron-style design, done up in metallic gray and mauve pink. She went on to say she got them at “the salon I love,” New York nail salon TenOverTen. “They do this—you just ask them to do the chevron!” And you don’t need to be in New York to get the look, ask for the design at your own nail salon or do it yourself by adding slim lines with a fine-tipped nail art brush.

Having a Moment: Textured Nail Polishes

Apr 18, 2013 @ 7:30 am

Move over, crackle nail polish, textured nail polishes are having a moment. Less-prominent than a 3-D charm but more dimensional than your everyday lacquer, these polishes dry with a matte finish, use tiny glitters to impart a pebbled effect on each digit, and switch up your nail surface in just one swipe. Karina Smirnoff Wears Jacoby Jones’s Number on Her Manicure for Dancing with the Stars

Apr 17, 2013 @ 8:00 am

Dancing with the Stars pro Karina Smirnoff sashayed onto the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards in a ballroom-esque peplum dress—and that wasn’t the only thing influenced by her day job. Her bright yellow manicure included a detail inspired by her dance partner Jacoby Jones’s Baltimore Ravens jersey number. “They’re yellow and I have a purple number 12 on my ring fingers,” Smirnoff told InStyle.com of her look. “The reason for that is that it fits the outfit [from Monday night's competition]. I don’t have a lot of time to turn around from the MTV Movie Awards to being live on Dancing with the Stars, so I’m rocking yellow nails with a red dress. I know it’s a no-no, but there’s nothing I can do!” We love the nail shout-out!

Exclusive First Look: Deborah Lippmann’s New Mermaid Nail Polishes

It’s time to channel your inner Ariel and be a part of Deborah Lippmann’s world! For her latest collection, the nail pro looked to the ever-popular Mermaid’s Dream hue (center) to inspire a quad of summery tones that hold the same dynamic shimmer. “This collection is happiness in a bottle, so just have fun and let the color suit your mood,” Lippmann told InStyle.com exclusively of the new cerulean, tangerine, lavender, and blush hues. “There’s a shade to complement every skin tone and to match every bikini!” Thanks to the varied sizes of glitter used in the formula, the lacquer dries to a slight textured appearance with a glossy finish. Plus, they make just as big of an impact under the sea as they do on land: “When you put your toes in the water and look down at them, the shimmer is gorgeous!” Lippmann added. Find the new Mermaid lacquers ($19 each) on deborahlippmann.com now.

The Printed Nail Wraps Beyonce Loves, Available for $16

Apr 8, 2013 @ 4:25 pm

When it comes to her manicures, Beyoncé always sets the bar high. We couldn’t help but notice her latest design—the patterned digits she had on her fingers as she started doing the motions to her “Single Ladies” dance in her new Pepsi commercial. Beyoncé chose the NCLA nail wraps in Umoja, which were designed by Melody Eshani. The pattern is Eshani’s interpretation of how colorful Maasai jewelry would look as a textile print, and we love how each finger gets its own unique design. Pick up a set for $16 at shopncla.com now.
