Prada‘s cool, edgy younger sister is getting into the fragrance game! Miu Miu, the high-fashion label bearing creator Miuccia Prada’s nickname, has just teamed up with Coty to develop a line of signature fragrances, set to launch in 2015. Since the scent is in its initial phase, no additional details have emerged as of yet, but if the runway pieces serve as an indicator, we’re hoping to see the bottle decked out in a trendy colorblocked scheme with an edgy twist. “Miu Miu is one of the most refined and respected luxury houses in the world, and one of the fastest-growing global brands in the whole fashion industry,” said Coty’s CEO Michele Scannavini. “It is an exciting opportunity for Coty to build a worldwide fragrance business for Miu Miu.” We’ll say! Stay tuned for more details and first looks at the fragrance as the launch date approaches.

The Olsen twins are once again taking on the roles of master perfumers! Mary-Kate and Ashley, the dynamic duo behind Elizabeth and James, will be launching two fragrances under the high-fashion label in January. The twins previously had a perfume range under their eponymous beauty line back in the early aughts, but their new perfumes will be called Nirvana White and Nirvana Black — housed in appropriate textured flacons. Rather than paying homage to the grunge-era band with eau d’Teen Spirit, Mary-Kate and Ashley referred to a different meaning of the word “nirvana” in creating the fragrances. “Everyone wants to experience their nirvana. Ashley and I understand everyone’s is different, so we’re asking our Elizabeth and James girl ‘What is your nirvana?’” Mary-Kate said in a release. “Our nirvana is reflected in the juice, bottle, packaging, and campaign imagery for Elizabeth and James Nirvana, and we’re excited to share it,” Ashley added. So, what does enlightenment smell like? It depends on which path you choose! Nirvana White is a floral-based scent, using notes like peony, muguet, and musk, while Nirvana Black is a heady blend of violet, vanilla, and sandalwood. Find both fragrances for $75 at Sephora stores nationwide and sephora.com in late January.

Chanel No. 5 is arguably one of the most iconic fragrances on the market, so it makes perfect sense that one of its biggest fans is the brand’s new face — Marilyn Monroe! Rather than opting for a hologram cameo, Chanel dug into their archives and found a never-heard interview from 1960 with Monroe and Marie Claire‘s then editor-in-chief Georges Belmont, in which the star gushed over the heady rose and jasmine blend. Monroe, who passed away in 1962, certainly didn’t keep her love of the fragrance a secret. While she didn’t appear in any of the label’s advertisements during her lifetime, Chanel No. 5 gained momentum following her first Life magazine cover in 1952. “Somebody was always asking me, ‘What do you sleep in, Marilyn? Do you sleep in PJs? Do you sleep in a nightie?’ It’s just one of those questions which make you wonder how to answer them,” she said. “Then, I remembered the truth is the easiest way out, so I said, ‘I sleep in Chanel No. 5,’ because I do.” Keep an eye out for the campaign rolling out in November, but in the meantime, check out Chanel’s tribute to the actress at chanel.com.

You can find just about anything on Amazon.com, and thanks to their new luxury beauty section, you can add amazing products from NARS, Deborah Lippmann, L’Occitane, and more to their growing list of offerings. While the website previously carried beauty products through independent retailers, it was hard to tell if they were current, as discontinued items were making their rounds online (Debbie Gibson’s Electric Youth fragrance from the ’80s, anyone?). Amazon’s latest category ensures that each item is coming from a licensed source, making it more convenient than ever to pick up your skincare and the latest bestseller from one location. “We’ve worked hard to create a single destination that showcase luxury beauty collections, and makes it easier than ever for customers to explore these brands, follow trends, and develop their beauty regimens,” said Chance Wales, the site’s director of beauty, health, and personal care. In addition to the abundance of tips and products, free samples are also available with specific products, so users have the chance to discover new beauty staples. The Best Celebrity Duo Ad Campaigns, Including the Latest: Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey for Dolce & GabbanaOct 10, 2013 @ 10:30 am
It is a rare occasion that two major celebrities star in an ad campaign together, so we were surprised (in a really good way) when we saw this — the latest from Dolce & Gabbana. Just in case you needed confirmation: Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey make quite a beautiful couple. The two faces of the brand appear alongside one another for the newly released campaign for The One his-and-hers fragrances. Shot by Peter Lindbergh, the campaign depicts the actors in timeless locations from New York to Hollywood to Rome. If the fragrance smells half as good as they look, we’re sold!
Who else gets our vote for campaign power couple? Real-life loves Sienna Miller and musician fiance Tom Sturridge worked it for Burberry’s fall 2013 campaign (loving this video of the two), while Chris Pine and Evan Rachel Wood’s close-up was so steamy it almost had us convinced they were a pair in Gucci’s Guilty fragrance ad campaign in 2012. But let’s not forget the couple that started it all: the Beckhams took Armani’s underwear to new heights by fronting the brand’s 2009 campaign (fast-forward to 0:58 to see the duo in action).

Going for a Classic Elvira Costume This Halloween? Pay Homage to the Mistress of the Dark With Her New FragrancesSep 30, 2013 @ 6:16 pm
Chalk it up to her mile-high coiff, perfect cat-eye, and blood red lipstick, but Elvira is always a popular costume choice every Halloween. Now, thanks to her seductive trio of fragrances, you can invoke your inner temptress if you’re planning on paying homage to everyone’s favorite Mistress of the Dark. The star has teamed up with Demeter to create three sultry scents, and we caught up with her to get all the details on each one! “I’ve been wanting to do a fragrance for a while, and I loved Demeter’s,” she tells InStyle.com exclusively. “One of my favorites was Holy Water — I always keep a bottle with me, you know, just in case vampires are around.” Elvira’s own collection includes Elvira’s Black Roses, Elvira’s Vamp, and Elvira’s Zombie, but this isn’t her first foray into fragrance — back in the ’80s, she had a scent called Elvira’s Evil, but these three are brand-new and very Elvira. “Typically, I like dark, sexy scents, and I like fragrances with musk and vanilla bean in them, because I read that when guys aren’t thinking about sex, they’re thinking about food,” she jokes. “Vanilla bean reels ‘em in! I love all three fragrances, but I especially like Vamp, because it contains both vanilla and musk.” Elvira’s Zombie is an earthier scent, incorporating notes like tobacco leaves, red poppies, and black vanilla bean, while Elvira’s Black Rose blends rose water tea with Bulgarian rose and amber for a truly unique take on the perennial. “It’s not that cloying rose perfume your grandma wore in the car when you were a kid,” she adds. “It’s a more beautiful, deep, dark scent, and I love it.” Pick up the Elvira fragrances, priced from $25 to $40 per bottle, at demeterfragrances.com.
