Selena Gomez announced in July that she’d be teaming up with OPI to create a nail polish range for the brand’s Nicole line, and now we have a first look at the 14 colors she created! “Millions of fans love Selena for the same reasons we do; she’s smart, talented, funny—and has an incredible sense of style,” said OPI executive VP and artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. “She has that classic ‘girl-next-door’ appeal, but she’s also edgy and fun.” Gomez’s lively personality and range of interests is reflected in her lacquers, which include day-glo brights, blinged-out glitters, and everything in between. And judging by the popularity of her eponymous fragrance, we can already imagine the star’s nail polishes will be in high demand. Click “See the Photos” to preview the entire collection now, and shop the colors when they land in stores this January for $8 each.
Talk about a gilt-y pleasure! Thanks to the new class of gold leaf top coats, all of your manicures can have the Midas touch. These innovative nail polishes incorporate gold flakes with a clear base, and we love the effect. Check out Sephora’s version ($15; sephora.com), OPI’s Man With a Golden Gun ($30; opi.com for locations), and Zoya’s 18-karat clear coat ($35 for three polish gift set; zoya.com). Apply two even coats over a dark shade for easy, sophisticated nail art, or sweep it over a shiny metallic to create solid gold digits. Need inspiration? OPI is going on a Euro trip! For its spring collection of new nail polishes, the famed nail brand created a range inspired by Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Czech Republic. “When visiting these countries, you’ll view Gothic churches alongside vibrant graffiti murals, blending two very different aesthetics,” said executive VP and artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. And just like the exotic locales, the twelve hues are a mix of trendy and traditional. The Euro Centrale line hits stores on February 6th for $9 a bottle, making for the most affordable spring break ever. Preview all the shades now by clicking through our gallery.
Calling all nail fanatics: Mariah Carey is about to revamp your manicure! For its latest collaboration, OPI teamed up with the singer/American Idol judge to develop eight Grammy-worthy hues—including the new Liquid Sand polishes, which impart a matte, textured effect. “Mariah is very passionate about beauty and her nails in particular. To pay homage to her iconic status, we wanted to launch her collection with something new and exciting,” said OPI executive VP and artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. “The Liquid Sand nail lacquer offers a never-before-seen look with a pebbled finish that lightly shimmers with fine glitter particles.” We can’t wait to get our hands (and nails) on a bottle—or vice versa! The Mariah Carey line hits stores in January, but you can preview all the nail polish colors ($9 each) right now. Click through our gallery below to get a closer look at every shade.

Nude nails are all the rage this season, and why not? They have a great slimming, elongating effect. The key is to find a shade that complements your skin tone the way Malin Akerman‘s pale blush complements hers. Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann, who worked on Badgley Mischka‘s spring show, shared her secrets for choosing the perfect shade. “There is always a right way to wear nude so that it complements your skin tone,” Lippmann told InStyle.com. Begin with a peek at the inside of your wrist to determine your complexion. If you see yellow undertones, try an opaque beige. If the color veers more toward pink, choose a sheer mauve. When trying on a polish, look at the skin near the cuticle. “If it appears to be reddish or gray,” Lippmann told us, “the shade you’re wearing may not be the best one for you.” Instead, settle on one that makes your fingers look long and lean. Check out the gallery below of our favorite nude polishes this season.
Move over, Cinderella—Minnie Mouse is taking over the fashion industry! Since the First Lady of Disney released a collection of OPI nail polish, designers across the globe have been clamoring to work with her. The result: a holiday collection with Barneys (complete with ears designed by Rag & Bone and L’Wren Scott) and spots on both the New York and London Fashion Week runways. (Not to mention Disney’s just-announced pop-up shops coming to JCPenney.) Click through our gallery to see all of Minnie’s style moments this year.
Taking inspiration from Helmut Newton, Jason Wu wowed crowds with an added touch of sexiness to his feminine designs. Plump cherry pouts, African braids and finger-waves strutted down the runway—giving his spring collection a freshly modern twist on classic beauty staples. We went backstage to get the complete breakdown—from hair to nails—so you can try your hand at creating the couture look at home. When asked to describe the girl this collection embodies, hairstylist Odile Gilbert, who created the intricate updo, told InStyle.com: “This girl is chic, sexy, and elegant.” We like the sound of that!
