Selena Gomez for Nicole by OPI: Preview the Colors!

Dec 4, 2012 @ 12:23 pm

Selena Gomez announced in July that she’d be teaming up with OPI to create a nail polish range for the brand’s Nicole line, and now we have a first look at the 14 colors she created! “Millions of fans love Selena for the same reasons we do; she’s smart, talented, funny—and has an incredible sense of style,” said OPI executive VP and artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. “She has that classic ‘girl-next-door’ appeal, but she’s also edgy and fun.” Gomez’s lively personality and range of interests is reflected in her lacquers, which include day-glo brights, blinged-out glitters, and everything in between. And judging by the popularity of her eponymous fragrance, we can already imagine the star’s nail polishes will be in high demand. Click “See the Photos” to preview the entire collection now, and shop the colors when they land in stores this January for $8 each.

OPI is going on a Euro trip! For its spring collection of new nail polishes, the famed nail brand created a range inspired by Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Czech Republic. “When visiting these countries, you’ll view Gothic churches alongside vibrant graffiti murals, blending two very different aesthetics,” said executive VP and artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. And just like the exotic locales, the twelve hues are a mix of trendy and traditional. The Euro Centrale line hits stores on February 6th for $9 a bottle, making for the most affordable spring break ever. Preview all the shades now by clicking through our gallery.

Find the Perfect Nude Nail Shade for Your Complexion

Oct 3, 2012 @ 4:12 pm

Nude nails are all the rage this season, and why not? They have a great slimming, elongating effect. The key is to find a shade that complements your skin tone the way Malin Akerman‘s pale blush complements hers. Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann, who worked on Badgley Mischka‘s spring show, shared her secrets for choosing the perfect shade. “There is always a right way to wear nude so that it complements your skin tone,” Lippmann told InStyle.com. Begin with a peek at the inside of your wrist to determine your complexion. If you see yellow undertones, try an opaque beige. If the color veers more toward pink, choose a sheer mauve. When trying on a polish, look at the skin near the cuticle. “If it appears to be reddish or gray,” Lippmann told us, “the shade you’re wearing may not be the best one for you.” Instead, settle on one that makes your fingers look long and lean. Check out the gallery below of our favorite nude polishes this season.
