Found It! Zoe Saldana’s Scarlet Lipstick at the Cannes Film Festival

May 23, 2013 @ 7:30 am

Zoe Saldana‘s tour de red lip continues! After sporting the bold hue at the Star Trek Into Darkness premieres in London and Los Angeles, she took the latest version to Cannes for the perfect finishing touch to her Valentino look. “Deep red lips gave a pop to the entire look,” said her makeup artist Vera Steimberg. “There’s no better place to rock a red lip than France!” Steimberg chose Laura Mercier‘s Stickgloss Lip Color in Cranberry, a crimson-plum hybrid with the slightest amount of shimmer. “It was the perfect color to complement the rest of Zoe’s makeup,” she added. Pick up the color for yourself at lauramercier.com for $22.

Found It! Zoe Saldana’s True Crimson Lipstick

May 16, 2013 @ 1:30 pm

Red lipstick has been a popular choice for Zoe Saldana during her whirlwind Star Trek Into Darkness premiere tour, but the sanguine hue she paired with her daring Rodarte number in Los Angeles made the biggest impact yet! “As soon as I saw the dress, I knew we had to go with a red lip,” said her makeup artist Vera Steimberg, who chose Laura Mercier‘s Creme Smooth Lip Color in Hollywood. “I wanted to create a chic, French-inspired look for Zoe.” Because the striking color can bring out redness in your complexion, take extra time to conceal any imperfections so that your lips remain the focal point. Pick up a tube of Saldana’s lipstick for $26 at lauramercier.com.

Found It! Zoe Saldana’s Perfect Red Lipstick

May 2, 2013 @ 5:30 pm

Zoe Saldana took the red carpet at the London premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness only hours ago, but we loved her bold orange-red lipstick so much, we just had to call her makeup artist Vera Steimberg to find out exactly what she used. “We went for a ’20s-inspired period look with Zoe today because we were so inspired by her amazing Vionnet dress,” said Steimberg, who chose Laura Mercier‘s lipstick in Portofino Red for the star. “I just couldn’t avoid using my red lipstick! From the moment she put the dress on, it just screamed red.” Saldana’s makeup was a modern take on the classic dark eye and bold lip popular in the 1920s, which Steimberg updated by using soft tones on the star’s lids, and a warm red lipstick. “I always say to start by choosing the right red,” she added. “Some people get scared of the bright color, but there are so many different versions out there, I can’t even tell you how many red lipsticks I have.” And the vivid crimson Saldana wore can be yours for $26—pick it up at lauramercier.com.

Jennifer Lawrence Smoky Eye How-To

Nov 13, 2012 @ 5:09 pm

We love a great smoky eye, and the soft, steely version Jennifer Lawrence wore at the Silver Linings Playbook screening in New York City definitely grabbed our attention! Lawrence’s makeup artist, Jillian Dempsey, drew inspiration from the star’s crisp black Christian Dior Spring 2013 pantsuit, and used Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick Eye Color in Steel ($24; lauramercier.com) on the actress’s upper and lower lash lines. Dempsey blended out the cream base to create a smoky effect and added Sateen Eye Color in Sable ($22; lauramercier.com) to areas she wanted to highlight. A swipe of the Kohl Pencil in Black Violet ($20; lauramercier.com) along Lawrence’s lash line provided extra definition, and a generous application of mascara finished the smoldering look. We’re so going to take a page from Jennifer’s smoky eye playbook!

Florence Welch’s Cardinal Red Lipstick

Nov 3, 2012 @ 4:00 pm

Florence Welch knows a thing or two about picking out a bold lipstick, and at the LACMA Art + Film Gala, the singer accented her champagne shadow and ornate updo with a warm cardinal red. We loved the color so much that we tracked down the exact shade! Welch’s makeup artist, Lisa Aharon, used Laura Mercier’s Creme Smooth Lip Color in Sienna on the star. The hue is part of the brand’s holiday collection, which was inspired by the Art Deco period in 1920s Paris—a perfect complement to Welch’s boho-chic ensembles. Plus, the lipstick is infused with pure olive oil and vitamin E to keep your pout hydrated. Pick up a tube for $26 at lauramercier.com!
