Zoe Saldana is known as a fashion risk-taker, and when it comes to beauty, the Avatar star is equally “willing to try new things,” she told us. “One time, I colored the ends of my hair with rum. It turned them flaming red, and my mom had to cut them off. I smelled like liquor for weeks!” But now the Avon spokeswoman knows better. “Work with what you have and learn to be comfortable in your own skin,” she said. Much like the gown trends we saw on the red carpet, many stars chose to paint their nails in rich fall hues, like dark navy blue and aubergine. Lea Michele had hers painted by celebrity nail guru Deborah Lippmann, who used a navy shade with a bright silver shimmer, Lady Sings the Blues, from Lippman’s eponymous line. January Jones, on the other hand, chose to contrast her bright electric blue gown with a dark aubergine hue. Lippmann also polished Jones’s nails with another shade from her collection, Dark Side of the Moon.
