It’s time to channel your inner Ariel and be a part of Deborah Lippmann’s world! For her latest collection, the nail pro looked to the ever-popular Mermaid’s Dream hue (center) to inspire a quad of summery tones that hold the same dynamic shimmer. “This collection is happiness in a bottle, so just have fun and let the color suit your mood,” Lippmann told InStyle.com exclusively of the new cerulean, tangerine, lavender, and blush hues. “There’s a shade to complement every skin tone and to match every bikini!” Thanks to the varied sizes of glitter used in the formula, the lacquer dries to a slight textured appearance with a glossy finish. Plus, they make just as big of an impact under the sea as they do on land: “When you put your toes in the water and look down at them, the shimmer is gorgeous!” Lippmann added. Find the new Mermaid lacquers ($19 each) on deborahlippmann.com now.

Deborah Lippmann’s New Lipstick: Inspired by Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”

Jan 28, 2013 @ 5:03 pm

Just when you thought Carly Rae Jepsen’s breakout hit “Call Me Maybe” had seen its day! Today, we found out that celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann was so inspired by 2012′s hottest song, she’s launching a Call Me Maybe lipstick. “The song came out while the color was being developed, and they both have the same youthful and exuberant vibe,” Lippmann told InStyle.com exclusively. Lippmann, who moonlights as a singer, names all of her products after hit songs, and Jepsen’s debut just happened to coincide with her time in the lab. “Carly Rae Jepsen is playful, vibrant, and on-trend, which aligns perfectly with this shade.” Find Call Me Maybe starting in mid-February on deborahlippmann.com for $22.

Nail Trend to Try: Robin’s Egg Manicures

Jan 25, 2013 @ 3:44 pm

We’re loving a new trend developing in the nail world—speckled lacquers! Inspired by a mix of mint chip ice cream and the markings on a robin’s egg, both Deborah Lippmann and Illamasqua are launching speckled nail polishes, which incorporate matte black glitter against a creamy pastel base. “When creating this formula, I was thinking of ways to make black glitter wearable,” Lippmann said of her Staccato line, which includes a trio of pink, white, and teal hues that will be available for $19 each at deborahlippmann.com in April. “I love that we took very wearable spring shades and gave them more pizzazz—even a bit of an edge!” Meanwhile, Illamasqua will also release a five-shade range ($16 each), which lands at sephora.com next week.

Just a few weeks before the second season of Girls airs on HBO—mark your calendars for January 13th at 9 p.m.—writer, creator, and star Lena Dunham announced she teamed up with Deborah Lippmann to create a four-piece nail polish set inspired by the show! We can all relate to at least one member of the Fantastic Four, but now you can channel your inner Jessa with a boho-chic red, or opt for Hannah’s deep green, Marni’s delicate pink, or Shoshanna’s pale periwinkle. “Deborah Lippmann’s colors are irreverent and classy and I’ve always coveted them (and stolen them from my mother), so who better to embody the Girls‘ spirit in polish form?” Dunham said. Between this launch and Nicole by OPI’s Modern Family lacquers, we’re already planning manicures to match our TV lineups! Pre-order the Girls set for $45 at deborahlippmann.com, and shop it in stores mid-January.

Find the Perfect Nude Nail Shade for Your Complexion

Oct 3, 2012 @ 4:12 pm

Nude nails are all the rage this season, and why not? They have a great slimming, elongating effect. The key is to find a shade that complements your skin tone the way Malin Akerman‘s pale blush complements hers. Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann, who worked on Badgley Mischka‘s spring show, shared her secrets for choosing the perfect shade. “There is always a right way to wear nude so that it complements your skin tone,” Lippmann told InStyle.com. Begin with a peek at the inside of your wrist to determine your complexion. If you see yellow undertones, try an opaque beige. If the color veers more toward pink, choose a sheer mauve. When trying on a polish, look at the skin near the cuticle. “If it appears to be reddish or gray,” Lippmann told us, “the shade you’re wearing may not be the best one for you.” Instead, settle on one that makes your fingers look long and lean. Check out the gallery below of our favorite nude polishes this season.

New York Spring Fashion Week 2013: Runway Nail Art!

Sep 8, 2012 @ 6:51 pm

If you need further convincing that nail art is having a serious moment, look to the couture claws of New York Fashion Week for proof! We’ve been spotting some seriously covetable nail designs on and off the runway, so we put together a list of our favorite fashion week manicures so far. “Obviously we know that nails are an easy accessory. It’s not a haircut, it’s not a commitment, it’s not like coloring your hair, and it’s fun” said celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann, who created the nails for Kate Spade’s spring 2013 presentation. “You can totally change them, make them personal, and pair them with what you’re wearing on the weekend. It is a way to make yourself happy, for sure.” We agree! Click through our gallery to get a closer look at each of the manicures now.

New In Stores: Deborah Lippmann’s Magnetic Nail Polish Trio

Aug 28, 2012 @ 4:05 pm

It’s no secret that we love creative manicure effects, which is why we’re excited to hear that Deborah Lippmann just released magnetic nail polishes! Her three versatile shades impart a design on each digit when you hover a patterned magnet over a fresh layer of lacquer. To achieve the effect, just paint on two even coats, and while your nails are still wet, hold the magnet as close as you can without touching the polish. A few seconds should do the trick. The longer you keep the magnet in place, the more defined the pattern will be. Buy the set for $29 at deborahlippmann.com.
