Chanel tapped Gisele Bündchen to be the face of the luxe label’s new makeup line Les Beiges, which launches stateside in this August. “Modern, independent and positive she is at one with herself and perfectly represents the values of this line: natural beauty, simplicity, freedom and a healthy glow,” the brand said in a statement. Get a first look at the new campaign in the video.

Found It! Jessica Pare’s Bold Red Lipstick from Her InStyle Photo Shoot

Feb 7, 2013 @ 8:30 am

Did you catch our behind-the-scenes video of Jessica Paré at our March fashion shoot? We loved the statement her true red lip made against her clean skin, and we found the exact shade with the help of Paré’s makeup artist Kate Lee. ”I chose a matte red so the color would appear intense, but also because Jessica in full lipstick and gloss would have been too much,” said Lee, who picked Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Passion. Also, while Pare’s lip shape appeared super-precise, Lee did not use any liner. “I tend to apply from the bullet, blend with a lip brush into a shape I like, then blot with an oil blotting sheet,” Lee added. “I powder the lip line with translucent loose powder, then apply the color again.” This ensures a super-saturated finish minus the heavy feeling. Pick up a tube of the same hue for $34 at chanel.com.

Found It! Chanel’s Couture Runway Nail Polish

Jan 24, 2013 @ 4:17 pm

For Chanel’s spring 2013 couture show in Paris during Couture Fashion Week this week, creative director of makeup Peter Philips contrasted Karl Lagerfeld’s glamorous goth vision by painting the nails of each model with the brand’s Le Vernis in Emprise. The pale peach hue made a fun, unexpected statement against the otherwise dark ensembles. And, unlike the sneak-previews of new colors that Chanel has showed off at couture shows in the past (i.e.: the label showed the Sky polish six months early), this shade is available now! Pick up a bottle for $27 at chanel.com.

Found It! Sienna Miller’s Gossamer Pink Golden Globes Lipstick

Jan 14, 2013 @ 2:00 pm

Sienna Miller’s pale pink lipstick at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards added a faint tint to her natural lip color while playing off of the rosy tones in her Erdem dress. We loved the subtle hue so much, we asked her makeup artist Pati Dubroff for the exact shade she used! “I wanted the makeup to look very fresh, young, and effortless,” said Dubroff, who opted for Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Gracile. “The dress has a very airy, floral vibe so the makeup feels like a summer day.” We think so, too! The sheer finish makes the lipstick perfect for daytime wear, and balances a strong eye. Pick up a tube for $34 at chanel.com.

Found It! Kristen Stewart’s Petal Pink Lip Color

Dec 17, 2012 @ 12:23 pm

While all eyes were on Kristen Stewart’s sheer Erdem look at the New York City premiere of On the Road, we also took notice of her sheer petal lipstick. “I wanted to create a sexy cat eye that was a bit ’60s, and modernize it with a soft pink lip,” said her makeup artist Beau Nelson, who used a combo of the Chanel Lip Definer in Pink Sugar and Rouge Coco Sheer Lipshine in Parfait for the star’s lips, which drew upon the neon pink hints in her dress without being overpowering. Nelson traced Stewart’s lips with the pencil, then carefully blended the color and layered the airy pink balm on top. “I patted the product in with my finger to make sure it looked lived-in,” he added. Pick up the lip pencil for $30 and the balm for $33 at chanel.com.

Found It! Anne Hathaway’s Deep Wine Lipstick

Dec 12, 2012 @ 1:50 pm

A deep bordeaux lip like Anne Hathaway’s makes a trendy statement, but finding your perfect wine hue can sometimes be a challenge. That’s why Hathaway’s makeup artist Kate Lee mixed three different shades to create a custom color that looked just right. “We wanted Anne to look slick and chic in her home town of New York City,” Lee said of the makeup look Hathaway wore the New York premiere of Les Miserables. “I started out with Chanel’s Rouge Allure Intense Lip Color in Rouge Noir, a deep plum. I then added the raspberry-toned Rouge Allure Velvet Matte Lip Colour in La Somptuese.” A touch of Chanel’s shiny magenta lipstick in Palpitane brightened the dark aubergine base, and made it less severe. Pick up each of the colors, priced from $33 to $34 each, at chanel.com.

Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald!

Dec 6, 2012 @ 12:12 pm

It’s official—the color authority, Pantone, has announced the top color for 2013 as (drum roll please) Emerald Green! The hue is a lush, recharging shade to follow in the footsteps of 2012’s bright tangerine. “[It is] the most abundant hue in nature—the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a statement. “This powerful and universally-appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.” The bold hue first hit our radar earlier this fall on the Spring 2013 runways, when designers including Stella McCartney and Chanel gave the the jewel tone a nod. Move over diamonds, emeralds are a girl’s best friend this year!
