With a new year comes new beginnings, especially when it comes to celebrities supporting their favorite brands. First up, Katie Holmes made her big debut as the new face of makeup brand Bobbi Brown, showing off her best smoky eye with the brand’s new eight-shade Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick, which Brown will debut in February. Meanwhile, Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson is the newest face of evening-wear designer Faviana. “I had a great time shooting the different looks and I felt amazing in every dress I put on,” Benson said in a statement. It’s not the first time Benson has put on her modeling hat—last summer she and co-star Lucy Hale were the face of Bongo. Don’t be fooled by their dark, vampy finishes—these black lip glosses are more glam than goth! Noir lip colors are typically reserved for Halloween, but we love how these sheer formulas instantly double our lipstick collection. Each gloss imparts a slight purple tint when worn alone, but when layered over lipstick, they transform your punchy neons into subdued fall hues. Swipe Urban Decay’s Perversion ($19; urbandecay.com) or Givenchy’s Celestial Black ($28; sephora.com) to turn a hot pink into a dusty mauve, or use over a too-bright orange to tone down the intensity. You can also mix the glosses with a bright red for your own custom wine lipstick. Bobbi Brown’s Black Pearl ($23; bobbibrowncosmetics.com) is a metallic plum that is transparent enough to wear alone.

This fall, glitz up your beauty routine! Opulent gold is popular and flattering since it warms up all skin tones. And it’s versatile: During New York Fashion Week, we spotted the metallic tone on and off the runway, including Marchesa’s gold leaf inner corners, Vera Wang’s soft golden smoky eyes, and Camilla Belle‘s head-to-toe monochromatic ensemble (right). And it’s easy to get the look! Find out our favorite gold picks in the gallery.
It’s lucky number seven for Bobbi Brown! Next month, the makeup pro will release her latest book, Pretty Powerful, which is filled with tips on how to achieve a flawless face—from a natural finish (BB’s specialty) to an ultra-bold look. The new tome ties in with the beauty guru’s recently launched Pretty Powerful Basics makeup collection. Brown also enlisted the help of celebrities like Gabourey Sidibe, Blythe Danner, and Sandra Bernhard along with her usual (and refreshing) mix of real women to demonstrate each look.Pretty Powerful isn’t out just yet, but you can get a sneak peek now! Click “See the Photos” for a first look, then pick up the book for $30, at stores nationwide, starting in October.
When you think “natural beauty,” a few actresses come to mind–Katie Holmes included. She was at the top of the list for Bobbi Brown: the company has named Holmes the new face of the brand. The star is the very first celebrity ambassador, and between her understated, elegant beauty looks and Brown’s timeless palettes, we’d call it a perfect match! Holmes’s ad campaign will be unveiled next spring, and she will also appear on the in-store visuals for the products. ”This is my first foray into beauty products,” the actress told WWD. “I think it’s amazing that Bobbi found a hole in the marketplace and said ‘I’m going to do something about it. I’m going to create a line for real women who want to look pretty and have it easy.‘” The actress has previously starred in campaigns for LOFT and H.Stern jewelry. If she wasn’t busy enough taking on the role as Bobbi Brown’s leading lady and showing her Holmes & Yang collection at New York Fashion Week in the next few days, she also plans to launch a capsule collection of color cosmetics for the brand in fall 2013. We can’t wait!

Duchess Catherine famously does her own makeup, and she’s a fan of Bobbi Brown’s products! We caught up with the makeup guru to get the scoop on how to score Middleton’s princess look. “Catherine has the perfect balance between classic and modern,” Brown told InStyle.com. “Her bold brows frame her face, while a swipe of gloss and pop of pink blush give her a healthy glow.” Click through our gallery to learn how to apply makeup so regal, it can only be accompanied by the princess wave.
