Barbie has undergone a holiday makeover, thanks to famed milliner Stephen Jones. As the latest designer to take on Barbie, Jones has created head-to-toe couture looks for the doll, which will be sold exclusively at Selfridges in London. The British hat maker has designed five custom looks for Barbie in homage to the holiday season: Happy Holly Barbie, Toffee Ice Barbie, Snow Globe Barbie, Santa Baby Barbie, and Christmas Tree Barbie (she lights up!). The milliner—a favorite of Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham, and Rihanna—not only created statement fascinators for Barbie, but embraced the holiday theme for each of her overall looks. “Barbie is the most fabulous private client. She came into the salon for her Christmas morning hat and left with five glamorous outfits!,” Jones said in a statement. “Barbie and I have the same design vision; we love tradition, but have an eye for the future.” Jones joins a long list of fashion designers and brands who have dressed the doll, including Hervé Léger, Coach, Prada, Burberry, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton. These holiday-decked Barbie dolls have certainly got us in the seasonal spirit. Look for them starting November 15th for $399 at Selfridges and selfridges.com.
Barbie is a woman of many talents; she has held every job from astronaut to President, and her latest role as Hérve Léger model is yet another accomplishment she can add to her resume! Last month, we reported that the label was giving everyone’s favorite doll a high-fashion look, and the wait is finally over—the Hérve Léger Barbie is officially in stores today. Barbie certainly wears the brand’s iconic bandage dresses well, and while scaling down the fall 2012 pieces presented a challenge for designer Lubov Azria, the fitting process was a breeze. “Working with an actual Barbie, she never complained, and she could stand there for hours,” she said in a video interview with Barbie’s team. “All the pins didn’t affect her, so it was fantastic!” Pick up the Hervé Léger Barbie for $150 at barbiecollector.com now, and if you’re eager to sport Barbie’s numbers in your own size, you can find both dresses at herveleger.com.

Barbie is getting all wrapped up—in a bandage dress! Hervé Léger by Max Azria is the latest design house to dress the famous doll in looks reminiscent of the brand’s fall 2012 collection. Donning a classic red bandage dress, a black corset belt, black gladiator boots and gold clutch, the Hervé Léger Barbie — available for $150 at Hervé Léger stores, Neiman Marcus locations and on barbiecollector.com beginning October 15 — also comes with an outfit change of a black and white jacquard dress, open-toe booties and a studded clutch. Ever so chic, the doll’s runway-inspired looks were constructed in the same factory that produces the real collection. The biggest challenge of crafting the miniature dress? Scaling down the famous knits used in the dresses to make them Barbie-size, the brand said.

Barbie’s a busy girl. And like a good, self-made power woman, she needs a good accessory to take her from her many day jobs to nights with Ken. Not just any accessory will do—Barbie is chic and classy and her bag must match. Coach was up for the challenge. The legendary leather goods brand teamed up with Mattel to create the collectable Coach Barbie doll, complete with the brand’s signature red Classic Coach duffle in mini size (it’s not bigger than the palm of your hand). Everything about the bag is just like its human-size counterpart, down to the buckles, decorative tassel, Coach tag and drawstring dust bag. Her Coach makeover also includes the line’s Tattersall trench, a striped green sweater, an ultrasuede skirt with Coach handbag turnlocks, Patty sunglasses and Coach Legacy Tristan sandals. Barbie just put her Malibu dream house on the market to the tune of $25 million, and she’s searching for some inspiration on her quest for a new place to live—and she’s getting a little help from designer Trina Turk. ”We’re designing the outdoor pool area for Barbie’s next dream house,” Turk told InStyle.com during her New York Fashion Week fall 2013 presentation. “That’s our next project!” And what a project it is: the “8,500 square foot home” is bright pink (no surprise there!), so we can’t wait to see what print lover Trina does to re-imagine the space. Stay tuned!

New York Fashion Week may officially be over, but that doesn’t mean that we’re any less obsessed with all the gorgeous fashion and beauty we saw on the runways (or the backstage antics we caught on camera). Oh, and did we mention the stylish celebrity attendees? In case your tickets got lost in the mail, here are a few highlights: Coco Rocha in a debutante-worthy Zac Posen ball gown, Barbie‘s big moment, Alice + Olivia candy clutches, Victoria Beckham’s final bow, and much, much more. So, check out the best of the best from New York Fashion Week Spring 2013.
The real star at The Blonds runway show last night in New York was the new Barbie the glamorous designers created (their second!) to support the MAC AIDS Fund. The all-pink doll, which is covered in tiny Swarovski crystals, is being auctioned off on charitybuzz.com through September 25. “She is special because she’s completely covered in Swarovski crystals,” designer David Blond told InStyle.com at the show. “And her shoes have these tiny, tiny crystals pavéd all over them.” Why did the platinum designers decide to collaborate with Mattel on the doll, who also (naturally) comes outfitted with a bright pink fur coat? “Working with Barbie seemed like the perfect partnership because she says, ‘You can be anything you want to be,” David said. David’s design partner Phillipe explained a bit more about the process of dressing the ultimate doll: “She borrowed my heels and my corset and my coat, and she’s looking dazzling as ever.” We agree! From the runway to the playroom, Barbie knows how to keep it glam! Mattel tapped The Blonds designers Phillipe and David Blond to create a look for Barbie, and this is the ultra-fabulous result: The Blond Diamond Barbie is a diamond-corseted mini-model complete with a satin-lined faux-fur coat, a design they first presented at Barbie’s fall 2008 fashion show, modeled then by Victoria’s Secret Angel Candice Swanepoel. “This collaboration is a childhood dream come true, Barbie played a huge role in our lives as children and still does,” The Blonds designers told InStyle.com. “She is the culmination of everything that inspires us. We’re both avid Barbie collectors and she’s the ultimate client!” The doll is available for pre-order starting today for $125 on BarbieCollector.com.
