Election-Inspired Poll: Do You Prefer Wearing Red or Blue?

Aug 29, 2012 @ 10:50 am

While Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are busily campaigning for your votes, we’re getting down to business with a poll of our own—the red v. blue debate. Stylewise, Ann Romney declared her love of Republican red in bright cardinal Oscar de la Renta at last night’s Republican National Convention, while First Lady Michelle Obama loves wearing the Democratic-favored American flag-blue, such as the sapphire Barbara Tfank dress she wore to the State of the Union address in January. So, politics aside—which hue do you prefer? Tell us by voting in the poll!

Barbara Tfank on Dressing Adele: ‘It’s a Pleasant Surprise’

Feb 16, 2012 @ 1:55 pm

What’s it like to dress eight-time Grammy winner Adele? We caught up Barbara Tfank, one of the singer’s go-to designers, during New York Fashion Week to find out. “I work with Adele on a regular basis,” Tfank told InStyle.com. It’s true—Adele wears Tfank’s designs to important outings, like this week’s Sony Grammy Party (left) and the 2011 VMAs (right). “She has things in mind that she wears all the time, but I never know when she’s going to wear them. It’s a pleasant surprise when it happens.” We can only imagine!

Jan 25, 2012 @ 3:45 pm

Last night, Michelle Obama attended President Obama’s annual State of the Union address in Washington, D.C. wearing a sapphire blue dress by Barbara Tfank accessorized with an Alexis Bittar brooch. Today, we caught up with the Los Angeles clothing designer, inset, who told us she customized the look from one of her resort 2012 collection pieces just for the First Lady. ”It is a great honor and pleasure to assist The First Lady,” she told InStyle.com exclusively. Tfank last dressed Obama to meet Queen Elizabeth and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace in May 2011. For more of our favorite Michelle looks, click through the gallery.
