We first fell in love with Aubrey Plaza as the deadpanning apathetic April Ludgate to Amy Poehler’s chirpy Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation, but with her new starring role in The To Do List, she’s getting a little more glam than you’ve ever seen her in Pawnee. The film takes place in 1993 — so keep an eye out for scrunchies, skorts and shoulder pads — and Plaza stars as Brandy Klark, the valedictorian and virgin of her Boise, Idaho high school who resolves to experience as much as she can before she leaves for college by completing items on her raunchy To Do List (ahem, hickies are the tamest thing on it). With her sister Amber helping her out — the fabulous Rachel Bilson — Plaza’s type-A Klark sets out to check off the items. Along the way, she meets local musician and lifeguard Rusty Waters, played by Scott Porter, who had to give his hair the ‘90s treatment for the film. Luckily, it wasn’t permanent. “I was thrilled I was going to have the wig in the movie because I was so frightened of all these great comedic actors and the wig just helped me out,” Porter told reporters at the Los Angeles premiere. While Aubrey Plaza is promoting her new film The To-Do List, recreating her fresh-faced look from the film’s Los Angeles premiere is currently topping our list of tasks. We loved how her saturated peach lip complemented her clean skin and slight flush, so we caught up with her makeup artist Mai Quynh to get the full breakdown. See the five easy steps she took below!
1. To start, she used a brush to apply Laura Mercier’s Oil-Free Supreme Foundation in Golden Beige ($43; lauramercier.com) all over, then followed with YSL’s Semi-Loose Powder in Amber ($60; yslbeautyus.com).
2. Dolce & Gabbana’s Blush in Rosebud 33 ($45; sephora.com) added a gorgeous glow to her skin.
3. Quynh then applied a trio of shadows from Guerlain’s Ecrin 6 Couleurs Palette in Rue de Passy ($86; sephora.com) for Plaza’s neutral eye. “I mixed the nude and beige shades on her eyelid, then I smudged the soft black color along her top lash line,” she said. “For her bottom lash line, I smudged Laura Mercier Baked Eye Color in Terracotta ($23; lauramercier.com).”
5. The finishing touch, of course, was Plaza’s peachy keen lip color. A few swipes of NARS’ Satin Lip Pencil in Lodhi ($25; narscosmetics.com), and she was ready to hit the red carpet.

TV may have made the switch to color in 1953, but its biggest stars still love black and white. Diane Kruger (in Nina Ricci), Parks and Recreation star Aubrey Plaza (in Roland Mouret), Veep actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus (in Reem Acra), and The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco (in Paule Ka) all stepped out in the clean, simple black-and-white for the 2013 Critics’ Choice Television Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel last night. The look, one of the most popular looks this season, is modern, cool, and assertive—but never in your face—and smacks of self-possession. “I love the cut,” Plaza said of who she chose her streamlined design. “It reminds me of vintage Sharon Stone.” Click to see what everyone wore to the ceremony.

The Trevor Project—a nonprofit aimed at preventing suicide amongst gay, lesbian, and transgendered youth—honored Katy Perry (in Marchesa) at the organization’s Trevor Live event in Los Angeles, where actresses and funny ladies Aubrey Plaza and Amy Poehler also attended in support of the cause. Perry, whose songs like “Firework” are often associated with anti-bullying and pro-tolerance movements, was given the Trevor Hero Award for serving as a positive pop culture role model. The ombre trend is still going strong, and Aubrey Plaza is the latest star to try it out, showing off new lightened ends at the 2012 Young Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles a few days ago. “I had it done for a movie I just shot,” the Parks and Recreation actress told InStyle.com. “I was playing a character with dreadlocks and just left it in. I might get rid of it this week since I don’t feel like myself, but I’m getting used to it!” What do you think of her look? Tell us in the comments!
