Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Benson spend a good deal of screen time in Spring Breakers in neon bikinis, crop tops, and short-shorts—the film is about spring break, after all—and there’s one woman they can thank for their fun and flattering beach closets: costume designer Heidi Bivens. Bivens created each character’s collection of perfect (and often pink) two-pieces, and fans have loved the looks so much, she even collaborated with Opening Ceremony on a Breakers-inspired capsule, complete with the film’s signature unicorn emblazoned on tees, tanks, towels, and string bikinis. That’s why we caught up with the designer, who spilled on Selena and the girls, what it takes to wear a two-piece around the clock, and what you should be looking for in a suit for your own spring break adventure. Last night’s Pretty Little Liars finale was epic! Not only did we (maybe) learn that the “late” Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) is alive and well, but also that she might also be the infamous scarlet trench-lover, Red Coat. (Gasp!) But then we hopped on the phone to talk to costume designer Mandi Line, and she said we shouldn’t be too sure just yet. “We know that Red Coat is a female, because the writers just gave me the go-ahead to let her wear heeled boots,” said Line. But didn’t Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hannah (Ashley Benson), and Mona (Janel Parrish) see Alison last night? “Maybe! Wait until you see the episodes coming up, though—it could go it any direction!” And for such an integral character, Line had to pick just the right cherry topper. “I didn’t want it to be too tailored, and I wanted it to drape nicely, so it had a little swing [when she walked],” said Line. “It couldn’t be too fashionable. It had to be able to take on [the action scenes]. Plus, I wanted it to be a nice blue-red, so it would complement a number of skin tones.” A number of potential A’s! Find out who’s who when Pretty Little Liars returns this June.

Tonight, Pretty Little Liars ends its third season—and reveals another member of the “A Team.” Spencer (Troian Bellisario) seems to gone over to the dark side, and Aria (Lucy Hale), Hannah (Ashley Benson), and Emily (Shay Mitchell) are reeling from the possibility. We asked Line what we could expect from the season finale—fashion-wise, no spoilers here!—and she did us one better, giving us her all-time favorite looks for each of the girls. With graphic black-and-white outfits making a strong appearance at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas this week, we’re thrilled to see some color contrast in the mix thanks to Selena Gomez in (Dolce & Gabbana), Ashley Benson, and Michelle Monaghan (in Roksanda Ilincic). The citrus-y hue was popular last year when Pantone named it the Color of 2012 (a title emerald green has claimed for 2013), and it’s an anything-but-subtle look you can try, too. Bright and bold, tangerine looks best worn in solid blocks. Stick to a classic silhouette and experiment with fun, high-contrast accessories for day or accent with basic black for a chic evening look.

Over at the South by Southwest Film and Musical Festival in Austin, Texas, plenty of new movies and tunes are debuting, but one classic trend is holding steady: black and white fashion. Olivia Wilde (in Dolce & Gabbana), Ashley Benson, and Genesis Rodriguez, all on-hand to premiere their latest films, worked the tones in tandem, and they made each lady look cool and confident. It’s a reassuring palette—especially when organized in crisp grids or lines, like Wilde’s Dolce number. But if you try the trend yourself and want to lessen the impact, add another color, like Rose Byrne, who paired her pinstriped A-line skirt and white accessories with a peach Balenciaga button-down blouse. (Tip: You can also add color with a bright pump or bold lips.) But remember, you don’t need much makeup—just filled brows and contoured cheeks; let your sharp outfit take center stage.

The stars of Spring Breakers traded in their bikinis for designer wear at Berlin’s CineStar Kino, where Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens (in Naeem Khan), and Selena Gomez (in Atelier Versace) premiered the film. The movie, which depicts four college friends who rob a restaurant to fund their tropical Spring Break vacation, opens March 22. It also stars James Franco as a dubious figure named Alien who hires the girls to do some of his dirty work in exchange for bailing them out of jail.

An all-new episode of Pretty Little Liars airs tonight on ABC Family! Last week, A-team member Mona (Janel Parrish) returned to Rosewood High after being released from the psychiatric ward, but Hannah (Ashley Benson), Aria (Lucy Hale), Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) remain skeptical of her rehabilitation. “She doesn’t have to hide behind A anymore,” Spencer says in the preview for this weeks episode (watch it above!). “She can take us down right in the open.” Watch the new episode tonight at 8/7c on ABC Family to see all the high-octane drama unfold!
