Rent the Runway, the online destination for designer dress and accessory rental, has recently released its first-ever app, and you guessed it—you can rent right off the runway on the go. But the app is so much more than that. It has a nifty new feature coined “Dress Match” that serves as a shopping tool, giving you the ability to snap a pattern, fabric, inspiration or an entirely other dress, and match it to a similar style in Rent the Runway’s 175+ designer inventory. “It helps answer that ‘Should I rent or should I buy?’ dilemma before even leaving a store,” said Jennifer Hyman, the company’s CEO and co-founder, in a statement. “Our mission remains: To make dressing up as fun, accessible and convenient as possible.” Shopping game-changer? We think, yes! Download the app for free on an iPhone or iPod Touch with iOS 7 from the iTunes app store.

Emoji, the insanely cute Japanese emoticons that are taking over our texts, just got even more omnipresent with the launch of Emojify. The new app gives your own personal photos a complete emoji makeover, melding the sweet emoticons into an intricate mosaic of an image. Think Chuck Close meets Hello Kitty! “It really started out as a thought experiment on image representation,” Kwok Pan, founder of VoidWorks, tells Wired. “Like what if the pixels which made up an image are not just dots of colors but have something more to it?” Here’s how it works: The app measures the hues and brightness of a picture and arranges the emoticons accordingly, with the brightest parts of a picture determining which emojis and colors are used where. Wired points out that portraits work best, so we gave it a shot using our September cover. We think it’s pretty impressive — what do you think? Want to give Emojify a try for yourself? Download it from the iTunes store for $0.99.

Just days after Facebook’s official announcement of Instagram videos, we put our director’s hats on and recorded our very first video on our @instylemagazine Instagram feed to show off Dolce & Gabbana‘s new nail polish line. The lacquer collection, named Love in Taormina, features five hues that are all named after Sicilian flowers, including Oleandro (soft pink), Ibisco (dark pink with a touch of coral), Camelia (bright coral), Bouganville (purple fuchsia), and Iris (deep violet). Dolce & Gabbana’s makeup creative advisor, Pat McGrath, got her inspiration for the colors both from the brand’s spring 2013 runway collection as well as from the Sicilian town of Taormina, perched on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean sea and Mount Etna. The collection also features lipsticks, eyeshadow, and blushes, all available this July. So, replay the clip, and tell us: Which nail polish would you wear?
