The holiday season is just around the corner, and while some have it billed as the most wonderful time of the year, when it comes to shopping, the packed stores and massive lines can also make it the most stressful time of the year. Instead of braving the crowds, we rounded up our 6 favorite apps that streamline the process down to one swipe! From L’Wren Scott‘s entire look book at your fingertips, to Snapette’s innovative ability to search nearby retailers for any item you want, these apps are great for shopping when you’re on the go, or if you need to make a last-minute purchase.
Attention, avid bargain shoppers! We found the perfect app for you, just in time for the holiday season. TheFind.com, one of the largest personalized search engines that finds the best shopping prices across numerous retail stores, recently launched its iPhone and iPad app, making it a cinch to get the best deals in the palm of your hand. Rent the Runway, the online destination for designer dress and accessory rental, has recently released its first-ever app, and you guessed it—you can rent right off the runway on the go. But the app is so much more than that. It has a nifty new feature coined “Dress Match” that serves as a shopping tool, giving you the ability to snap a pattern, fabric, inspiration or an entirely other dress, and match it to a similar style in Rent the Runway’s 175+ designer inventory. “It helps answer that ‘Should I rent or should I buy?’ dilemma before even leaving a store,” said Jennifer Hyman, the company’s CEO and co-founder, in a statement. “Our mission remains: To make dressing up as fun, accessible and convenient as possible.” Shopping game-changer? We think, yes! Download the app for free on an iPhone or iPod Touch with iOS 7 from the iTunes app store.

We know the moment all too well: You purchased that hard-searched clothing item online only to find out that it looks completely different in-person than it does online. Now, thanks to the new iPad app Stylewhile you won’t have to return or second guess your online purchase, because now you can virtually try on the products. Stylewhile lets you pick a real-life model based on your body type, skin and hair color, then with just a few swipes, you can try on a mix of clothing (and play stylist by building outfits) to test out which sizes and looks work best for your body. If you love the items you “tried on,” the app also allows you to directly shop from retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, the app’s current exclusive partnership (with more e-retailers coming soon), giving your fingertips access to international designers including Diane von Furstenberg, J Brand and Alexander Wang. “This new app will make their online shopping easier and more fun,” said founder and CEO Jutta Haaramo in a statement. “Our dream is to build an app that helps women to find and buy the right items so that there would be a lot less of those ’I have nothing to wear’ moments or ‘this looks differently in person than it did online’!” Consider it done! Download the free app for iPad with IOS 6 and 7 operating systems at itunes.apple.com.

While a lavish launch party announcing a brand’s latest products was once the norm in the beauty world, NARS is changing the game by giving users a sneak peek at their upcoming Guy Bourdin-inspired range via Snapchat — which will then disappear into the ethos forever. The collection inspired by the late French photographer will roll out to stores on October 15, but if you’re an avid Snapchatter, you could be getting previews of the impressive range in the weeks before the official release date. So, how does it work? Simply follow the “Narsissist” account on Snapchat, and you’ll get access to a ten-second first look at the products as soon as today. NARS isn’t the only style giant sending out snaps — for New York Fashion Week, Rebecca Minkoff enlisted the service to reveal pieces from her spring collection before the outfits even hit the runway. If you don’t already have the app, download it for free at itunes.apple.com or play.google.com, and keep an eye out for NARS’ Guy Bourdin collection when it arrives on October 15!

Last night, stylist extraordinaire Rachel Zoe helped launch the fashion game app, Covet Fashion, in downtown New York City alongside her husband Rodger Berman. This is one of Zoe’s favorite apps, we learned, and there’s a reason why: She is Covet’s first-ever Style Ambassador. The app — which was on display on iPads around the event space for guests to test out — allows you to build your virtual dream closet, dress an avatar you create in your favorite luxury looks and ultimately buy whichever pieces you, well, covet. A virtual stylist? No wonder Zoe is a fan. “Me and video games is an oxymoron, but I’m obsessed,” Zoe told InStyle.com. “The thing I get asked the most in my life is ‘how did I become a stylist,’ or ‘I can’t dress myself and I don’t understand fashion and style.’ Here, you actually get to do it, demo it, see if you like and buy it if you want to. You have the option, it’s kind of great.” In her role, she’ll offer fashion advice and judge users’ styling choices as “coveters” sift through the offerings by by Rebecca Minkoff, Mara Hoffman, DKNY and more. Try the app yourself by downloading it on iTunes.
