Our Look of the Day top picks this week were all about black, white, and a pop of red (or a combination or all three!). The five that topped our list were: Kristen Stewart in a black-and-white Balenciaga runway look, accessorized with a Cartier bracelet and Christian Louboutin heels, Marion Cotillard in a two-tone high-low Christian Dior gown, Taylor Swift in a retro red dress, Cameron Diaz in a pretty satin Stella McCartney number, and Kate Middleton in a black-and-white lace Temperley repeat, which she transformed with a bright red Alexander McQueen clutch. Kate Middleton’s Lace Temperley Dress Returns!

Kate Middleton, you never fail to surprise us! The royal is a Master of Rewears, and today she gave us another reason why with the re-appearance of her black lace Temperley gown. Catherine first wore the look on the eve of her 30th birthday 10 months ago—or 305 days, to be exact—for the War Horse premiere in London, and chose the black-tie style again today for a dinner hosted at Middle Temple Hall in London in support of the University of St. Andrews, the school she and Prince William attended (and where they met). We love how she added a pop of color with her red Alexander McQueen box clutch, just enough to make it different. And, a word for brides-to-be, this look could be yours—designer Alice Temperley debuted an all-white version at her last bridal show, which will be available for Fall 2013 weddings. Kate Middleton’s Flower-Embellished Temperley Dress: Love It or Leave It?

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge rarely deviates from her solid-colors-from-solid-designers modus operandi and that’s what we’ve grown to love about the new royal—just look at our extensive and somewhat exhuasting coverage of her every fashion move. However, we’re seeing a shift: She’s starting to integrate more and more floral embellishments into her choices, like the Alice by Temperley dress she wore to yesterday’s reception for Olympic and Paralympic Team Great Britain medal winners at Buckingham Palace. The number is a custom design by the British designer, and includes embroidered rose and gold details on sheer black fabric. Tell us, what do you think about this look: Love it or leave it?

Temperley’s New Wedding Dress Collection: See the Photos

When it comes to ethereal lace designs, it’s hard to top Temperley— just ask the Middleton sisters. And though it may seem that the Duchess was a source for the fall 2013 collection of mostly long-sleeve gowns, the label known for its feminine fabrics and romantic silhouettes drew inspiration from Hollywood and was largely influenced by Grace Kelly, the ’50s and film noir screen sirens. Accordingly, the collection, which designer Alice Temperley dubbed “Florence,” featured delicate embellishment, hand-cut flowers, elegant draping and embroidery.
