Jessica Chastain Oscars 2012 Dress: ‘Closest I’ll Get to Wedding Gown’

Feb 26, 2012 @ 7:05 pm

Jessica Chastain’s choice for her Oscars 2012 look, a custom Alexander McQueen design with an intricate gold overlay and a flowing chiffon train, was something she’s been dreaming about since, well, forever. “Most girls think about their wedding day and their wedding dress, but when I was a little girl I never really thought about my wedding dress,” The Help star told InStyle.com at the Marni for H&M launch party a few weeks ago. “But I always wanted to be an actor and I thought about what it would be like to be at the Oscars. So this dress to me is probably the closest I’m going to get to a wedding dress. Not in a bad way, but it’s great.” In turn, the Best Supporting Actress nominee put a lot of thought into her look. “It’s kind of emotional to me,” she said. “It’s my first time there and beautiful dresses are being made. It’s very exciting.”

Rose Byrne’s Alexander McQueen Dress: Runway to Reality

Feb 9, 2012 @ 11:00 am

Bridesmaids star Rose Byrne chose a look from Alexander McQueen’s spring 2012 collection for the amfAR New York Gala in New York last night, a design that got a significant update from its runway debut. When McQueen designer Sarah Burton originally showed the piece in Paris last October, it featured glossy black material over delicate blush lace, a flared lace skirt, and a matching full-face enveloping mask. The item Byrne wore was moderately altered for real-life, from the black lace revision to the straight hem. And, of course, she lost the mask. Tell us: Would you wear this look?

If there’s one thing Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge made clear in 2011, it’s that she loves Alexander McQueen. She kicked off her McQueen fashion show in April, when she wore two looks by the label for The Biggest Wedding of the Year, and followed up with another lilac gown for her appearance at the BAFTA Brits to Watch event in Los Angeles over the summer.
