Stella McCartney won the top honor at tonight’s British Fashion Awards in London—Designer of the Year! The award, which was presented to her by Salma Hayek, marks the end of a great year for the designer, who created Team Great Britain’s Summer Olympics uniforms between designing her collections, launching her new lingerie line, and dressing celebrities ten times over, including Alicia Keys and Jessica Chastain. ”This is one of the most incredible years of my life, I thank everyone who fell in love with the 2012 Olympics,” she said during her acceptance speech. ”Something that I’ve learned this year is that great people make Great Britain.“ McCartney follows in the footsteps of Alexander McQueen’s creative director, Sarah Burton, who took home the prize last year, and her achievements also landed her the Designer Brand Award, which was presented to her by model-actress Amber Valletta. The awards also honored Roksanda Ilincic for Red Carpet, Erdem Moralioglu for New Establishment, and Manolo Blahnik for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion. Congrats, congrats, congrats!

“This is so exciting, and it looks amazing!” designer Christopher Kane said of Versace’s new boutique in Soho, which celebrated its door-opening with a bash attended by some of the label’s biggest celebrity fans. Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, and Alexa Chung (in Versus, pictured with Kane) stopped by to check out the Jamie Fobert-designed space, while Lady Gaga, Princess Charlene of Monaco, and Karolina Kurkova all feted at a private dinner at the Waldorf Towers. “The whole concept of behind the shop is that it’s much lighter, even though it’s Versace,” added Kane, who designs Versace’s Versus label. “It’s not too small, not too big. It’s just a great space.” The store mixes signature Versace elements—like a Roman basilica-inspired tiled floor imported to southern Manhattan via Italy—as well as a modern cool-girl approach, like white walls and a plexiglass suspended corridor. “There’s a different dymanic here,” Kane added. And it’s true for the clothes, too: This location stocks exclusive T-shirts emblazeoned with iconic Versace imagery co-designed by Kane and Donatella Versace, like the one Kane is wearing. Visit the store at 160 Mercer Street in New York City.

What do Pippa Midleton, Alexa Chung, and Lena Dunham have in common? They’re all about to be published authors, developing books about the topics they know best. Up first is Pippa Middleton, whose Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends lands on shelves October 30th and will have us all partying like royals soon after. Model-designer-TV host Alexa Chung plans to release her yet-to-be-titled book in September 2013, which will dispense her copious fashion knowledge and reveal her style icons. Funny gal Dunham, meanwhile, hopes to keep us in stitches with her book, Not That Kind Of Girl: Advice By Lena Dunham. If it’s anything like her HBO series, Girls, we can expect lots of self-deprecating real-life confessions. Looks like we’ve got all our bases covered!
