Anna Kendrick Knows Her Style’s Feminine… But She’s Trying to Add Some Edge

You can always count on Anna Kendrick to wear something feminine—but now, she’s all about breaking her own status quo. “I find myself drawn to really romantic pieces, but I definitely try and push myself to go towards edgy,” the actress told InStyle.com at Barneys New York last night, where she was on hand celebrate the launch of Marissa Webb‘s collection at the retailer. “I feel like my safety zone is maybe too feminine. I love it when designers can put hard edges and tough details on what are generally considered really feminine pieces.” Kendrick’s change is already evident, from her studded Rebecca Minkoff top to the strappy Brian Atwood sandals she paired with her Zuhair Murad beaded mini to her teal Alberta Feretti lace dress, the latter of which she told us was her recent favorite. However, she embodied her style resolution entirely last night when she paired a flowy Grecian style dress ($745) with a leather vest ($1,025), both from Webb’s collection. “What I love about this line is that it is so feminine and so romantic, and then there’s just enough of an edge to make you feel like you’re pushing yourself in a new direction,” said Kendrick. “It feels very current.” A perfect fit!

Ali Larter Says Yes to Re-Wearing Dresses!

Dec 21, 2011 @ 11:40 am

Like Kate Middleton and Dita Von Teese, Ali Larter isn’t afraid to take her wardrobe for multiple spins on the red carpet. Over the weekend, she hosted a celebration honoring Alain Mikli’s new Los Angeles boutique and benefit for The Art of Elysium at her Hollywood Hills home in an Alberta Ferretti little white scoopneck dress featuring a geometric design—the same look she wore to the designer’s runway show at III° Edition of Cali Expo in Colombia in October. “I love this dress,” Larter told InStyle.com. “I thought it was so beautiful. It was one of those moments where I thought, ‘I’m wearing that baby again!’” And she advises everyone to follow her lead. “It’s such a bummer in my business when you wear something and you’re not supposed to wear it again,” she said. “I’m like, ‘No way!’” Agreed!

Revealed: Emma Watson’s Alberta Ferretti Collection

Mar 4, 2011 @ 1:30 pm

Emma Watson just released images of her new capsule collection for Alberta Ferretti named Pure Threads by Emma Watson Alberta Ferretti. The five-piece, lace-embellished line is made in Italy from eco-friendly materials like cotton poplin, cotton muslin, and hemp. “Emma had a Jane-Birkin-in-the-seventies image in mind,” Ferretti said of the inspiration, WWD reported. Prices range from $345, to $1,173, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to People Tree, a nonprofit fair-trade organic fashion organization Watson supports—and designs for! “I believe this is a big step forward for all of the international fashion industry,” said Watson, “But also an important step for an increased sensitivity to the problem of ecology.” Check out the pieces, available exclusively on AlbertaFerretti.com beginning March 21.
