Ahna O’Reilly made her first-ever Cannes Film Festival experience a memorable one! The actress has put on a full fashion show in the French Riviera, as she showed up to event after event in high-fashion looks. The latest we love: This Monique Lhuillier design, which she paired with Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, H. Stern earrings, and a Jennifer Behr headband—and she gave us the exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the process to get her red carpet-ready. “I felt amazing in the dress,” she told InStyle.com exclusively. “Ever since I put it on for the first time, I knew it was what I wanted to wear. Walking the red carpet in Cannes for the first time was surreal, and a total dream come true.” Click through the gallery for a closer look, and get details from her glam squad, including stylist Caley Lawson, hairstylist Kylee Heath, and makeup artist Kindra Mann on how they made her dream a reality.
Ahna O’Reilly stepped out for a good cause in this quintessential Little White Dress at the second annual Hilarity for Charity event in Hollywood, which raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Association with laugh-out-loud performances by comedians like Mindy Kaling and Seth Rogen. The look is Juicy Couture’s Scallop Lace dress, also available in black and clementine versions, for $268 at juicycouture.com. Pssst: Scoop up the flirty frock now—it’s on sale for $190!

Subtle braids like January Jones‘s, Kristin Cavallari‘s, and Ahna O’Reilly‘s add a feminine touch to updos and down ‘dos alike. “This style works best on hair the day after a shampoo,” said Cavallari’s hairstylist Marcus Francis. “The extra texture will help when braiding and pinning up hair.” Try tiny plaits on each side of your head like Cavallari, a French braided bun like Jones, or a chic hairline braid like O’Reilly. New York-based designer Naeem Khan enjoyed some one-on-one time with his star fans at a private dinner he hosted at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The designer, shown with Angie Harmon, dressed each of the attendees in one of his creations: Jordana Brewster in a taupe and turquoise printed pleated number, Ellie Kemper in an olive and sand dropped-waist crystal beaded dress, Harmon in a turquoise chiffon and lace embroidered caftan, The Help star Ahna O’Reilly in a white faille dress with gold circle lace-applique, and Julie Bowen in a sleeveless ostrich feather mini. It was an especially special evening for The Office and Bridesmaids star Kemper, who celebrated her 32nd birthday yesterday. See more stars at last night’s hottest events in the gallery.
While the color authorities at Pantone predicted 2012 to be a year filled with tangerine orange in the fashion world, celebrities have gone in a much sunnier direction. By the end of Q1, it seems yellow is one of the most popular red carpet choices, with stars like Ahna O’Reilly, Elizabeth Banks, Nicole Richie, and Gabrielle Union being just a few of those who chose the eye-popping hue. We love how this lemon shade works on all skin tones and can immediately brighten up your face without washing you out. Of course, this color is a head-turner, so if you want to make an impression, consider wearing it head-to-toe. Or, if you don’t want to be a walking ray of light, go for a more subtle look with a single piece, like a skirt, blouse, shoes, or bangle. Tell us: Do you like to wear yellow?

House of Lies star Kristen Bell (in Reem Acra) and The Help‘s Ahna O’Reilly represented spring’s hot color trend in bright candy-colored looks at the Alzheimer’s Association’s A Night at Sardi’s event in Beverly Hills, which celebrated the organization’s 20th anniversary. Celebrities love Honor! Medical-student-turned-designer Giovanna Randall launched the label in 2009, and her ultra-feminine creations have been red carpet regulars ever since, most recently appearing on Shailene Woodley at last night’s Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games. “They’re strong, but feminine,” Woodley, who often wears the label, told InStyle.com of Randall’s designs at Honor’s fall 2012 fashion show. “I like the fact that her clothes are feminine with a masculine touch.” Randall agrees: “I guess every woman wants to be the mix between being really ladylike and really tough,” the designer told us. “I think about that a lot when I design.” Randall describes her ideal customer as a “strong woman who isn’t afraid to be noticed, but does’t need to be noticed all the time.” It is a fitting description of her celebrity fan base, which includes Taylor Swift, Ahna O’Reilly, Kirsten Dunst, and more. See who else loves wearing Honor in the gallery, and shop the collection at shop.honornyc.com, or at the designer’s New York store (68 Gansevoort Street).
Guests filed into Boa Steakhouse in Los Angeles at 4:30 p.m. to take their seat at InStyle’s Oscars viewing party last night, where they caught the red carpet and awards show on the giant big-screen TVs scattered around the room. Allison Janney (in David Meister), Ahna O’Reilly (in Randi Rahm), and Chris Lowell of The Help huddled together on one of the restaurant’s many leather couches, and clapped with joy as co-star Octavia Spencer won her Best Supporting Actress Award. “That hit me in my heart,” Allison Janney (in David Meister) told InStyle.com. “We were all crying over here because she is one of the most glorious people on the planet, and I’ve loved her for a long time. It’s surreal to see someone who was in the trenches doing what she loves and have this happen for her.” See more stars who watched the Oscars with InStyle in the gallery!
