Madonna‘s high-impact performances are as exciting as the work done by her backstage glam squad! While we eagerly await the premiere of Madonna: The MDNA Tour on Epix this Saturday, we caught up with her makeup artist Gina Brooke and her hairstylist Andy LeCompte to see how they kept her look together through the fast-paced dance numbers and even faster wardrobe changes. “The quick changes happened underneath the stage, and we’d basically have to change her hair, makeup, and wardrobe in under five minutes! It’s so much fun working with her, though,” Brooke told InStyle.com exclusively. “There’s nobody like her. I’ve worked with so many people in the industry, and there is no one and will never be anyone like Madonna.” We agree! Click the photo to see her most-memorable looks, and how they came together.
The concept of self-love and inner beauty is one that our July cover girl Salma Hayek knows well. “You’ve got to take who you are and love who you are and do the best with what you’ve got,” she told InStyle in her July feature. “That goes for the figure, and it goes for everything else. You’ve got to be kind to yourself.” We love her positive attitude, and as the saying goes, when you feel good, it shows on the outside. Despite her busy schedule, the star just added new products to her already-impressive Nuance beauty line, which are perfect as a pick-me-up on a rough day, or as an indulgent treat to yourself. Channeling your inner Sasha Fierce just got a lot easier thanks to Kim Kimble’s haircare! The celebrity hairstylist, who counts Beyoncé and Shakira as clients, just launched her own line of products full of hair-healthy ingredients like Brazilian nut and acai berry. “I’m about healthy hair, and for a long time, it was difficult to find products that worked for a lot of different hair textures,” Kimble told InStyle.com. “A lot of products claim to work on different hair types, but this one really does since it’s so nourishing without being heavy.” Plus, she’s adding to her product catalog with a curly hair range in July. “There is a major demand for curly hair products, and we wanted ours to be very versatile and work on all types of curls,” she said. “Curly hair doesn’t get as much natural oil as straight hair does, so you have to keep curly hair moisturized so it won’t get brittle or break.” Shop her current line on kimblebeauty.com, and keep an eye out for the new curly-friendly items next month.

Each week, Shakira showcases a range of dynamic styles on The Voice, and we love giving you the complete how-to on each look. With the finale taking place tonight and tomorrow, we just had to ask Shakira’s hairstylist Kim Kimble if the star has any dramatic hairdos in the works. “I think we’re going to see her going back to her curly hair again,” she told InStyle.com. “That’s the direction we’re planning to go, but you never know, it could change! There may be a new color change, but we’ll see how it goes.” Shakira has rocked her trademark blonde hue for years, so we’d be surprised to see her shift shades (though, The Voice is full of surprises!). And among the many looks Kimble has created for the singer this season, one style in particular stands out. “I loved when she wore bone-straight hair,” she said. “Shakira doesn’t do straight hair a lot, but we did it very sleek one night, and I liked it a lot.” The feeling is mutual! Catch the finale tonight on NBC at 9 p.m. EST.

Ashley Madekwe and Joico’s artistic director Damien Carney are back with a new tutorial in their Drab to Fab hair how-to video series, and the two pros are joining forces to give us a complete breakdown on the season’s most-popular style. “This is the one look everyone always asks for — relaxed, beachy waves,” Madekwe said. “It’s the kind of style you can wear all day long, take from day to night, and it’s great for the summer.” After lathering up with Joico’s K-PAK Shampoo and Conditioner ($15 and $17; joico.com for locations), Carney used the brand’s Power Whip Mousse ($17; joico.com) on the model before working his magic with a curling iron and the brand’s Power Spray hairspray ($17; joico.com). ”You don’t need to be a perfectionist,” Carney advised. “In fact, a little bit of the imperfections are what makes it quite perfect!” Watch the complete how-to in the video above.

Kate Hudson‘s complexion never ceases to look flawless, and for her latest Almay campaign, the star got her glow on to show off the effects of the brand’s new multi-tasking CC cream ($9; almay.com). “To have to apply sunscreen and then apply makeup or foundation over it can be costly and a bit of a hassle,” Hudson said. “The Almay CC Cream allows you to have both in one, and it can protect your skin while you’re off at the kids’ soccer games, or playing volleyball at the beach.” We got an exclusive look at her upcoming TV spot, in which Kate continues to be her bubbly, fun-loving self. “It’s more real life, and you’re kind of getting an intimate moment with the real Kate — not just the Almay ambassador,” director Lisa Cholodenko said. Evelyn Lauder passed away in 2011 after a long battle with breast cancer, and her influence still continues in the beauty world. To honor the icon for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the company’s founder and CEO Laura Slatkin blended Lauder’s favorite note of flowering pittosporum with rose, sandalwood, and peony to create the upcoming Passion candle. “I was inspired to create Passion after hearing Evelyn’s husband Leonard lovingly announce his commitment to continuing her critically important work,” Slatkin said. “They were in this fight together, and NEST candles is pleased to join them in their efforts. Evelyn’s passion and dedication to finding a cure for and preventing breast cancer by establishing the Breast Cancer Foundation are legendary.” Ten percent of each Passion candle sold will benefit the foundation. Find the NEST Passion Candle at department stores and nestfragrances.com for $28 in October.
