Cheryl Burke is upgrading her mani to become “polish-free” in 2013! We went behind the scenes with the Dancing with the Stars pro at her campaign shoot for imPRESS by Broadway Nails and got the inside scoop on being the brand’s newest ambassador and her press-on signature series, which is set to debut this spring at Walgreens stores nationwide. Unlike nail polish, the press-on nails deliver an instant, salon-perfect manicure without the drying time. “I am so excited to represent the brand,” Burke exclusively told InStyle.com. “Having colorful fingers is a must, and since these are so easy to apply, I can put them on myself in minutes!” Available starting in early April 2013, The Cheryl Burke Signature Series will introduce six new playful hues and patterns to the collection. “The line really shows off my personality,” Burke told us. “The colors and patterns are fun, bright and vibrant.”

Plan Your Party Manicure: New Year’s, Holidays, and Even Tonight!

Dec 8, 2012 @ 9:00 am

Glitter is on everyone’s radar this time of year! Get your nails holiday-ready with a glitzy manicure, like this two-step nail art kit from Ciaté ($19, sephora.com). Unlike a regular mani, the Sequined Manicure Kit delivers a raw, brilliant finish. “It adds instant texture and depth to your manicure that others just want to touch,” Ciaté founder, Charlotte Knight, told InStyle.com. To get a perfect at-home mani, Knight suggests you start with clean, oil-free nails. (Swipe nail beds with remover to ensure.) Then, apply one coat of the paint pot shade and let it dry. Next, apply a second coat and sprinkle a generous amount of the glitter onto wet nails until you have created a heavy layer. Gently sweep off excess powder using the little black brush and let nails dry completely.

Pantone’s Color of The Year: Emerald Beauty Picks

Dec 7, 2012 @ 12:45 pm

It’s easy being green in 2013—literally! As emerald gets ready to take its seat as the color of the year, we caught up with celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose to talk the hue and how to incorporate the bold shade into your makeup routine. “Green is actually easier to wear than most people think,” Barose told InStyle.com. “Pairing emerald with bronze, brown and nude shades can actually be very chic.” Take a cue from Stella McCartney‘s Spring 2013′s runway show, and let the vibrant color take center stage with minimal makeup. With the help of some of our favorite products, emerald is bound to be splashed across lids and tips nationwide in the upcoming year. Click through our gallery below to see all of our favorites!

Perfect Match: Makeup to Wear With Gemstones

Dec 7, 2012 @ 12:23 pm

Pairing playful, peek-a-boo makeup with elegant, gemstone elements is a fun alternative to a naked palette. Take a cue from Leslie Mann, who wore subtle teal liner to match her drop earrings at this year’s Emmys. Pati Dubroff, Mann’s makeup artist, created the look by using a liner in the same color family as the jewelry. ”Teal eyeliner is the defining feature of this look,” Dubroff told InStyle.com. To avoid looking overdone, Dubroff lined lids with Lancome’s Liner Design Gel in Dress Up Teal ($25, Lancome.com), a color a few shades darker on the starlet’s rims.

How to Achieve the Perfect Glittering Peepers

Dec 6, 2012 @ 6:00 pm

We love all that glitters—but let’s face it, sometimes sparkling peepers can be more painstaking than we’d like. We caught up with celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan, who has worked with the likes of Kate Bosworth and Leighton Meester, to get tips on how to master gleaming eyes.  Before layering your favorite brilliant hue, Deenihan suggests starting with an eyeshadow primer to avoid flaking. “Be careful with glitter,” Deenihan warns, as it could get messy. “When done right, it can illuminate the eye and make it appear larger when catching the light.” When applying a powder, like Bobbi Brown’s Powder Pearl Eye Trio ($46, bobbibrown.com), be sure to pat the loose glitter onto lids as opposed to swiping and smearing. Want an even more vibrant shade for an evening look? Deenihan suggests dampening the sponge for a long-lasting, intense hue.
