Quote of the Day: Paul Rudd Is a “Die-Hard Karaoke Enthusiast”

Feb 15, 2013 @ 4:05 pm

Paul Rudd has held a soft spot in our hearts since he played loveable Josh in the cult classic, Clueless, almost 18 years ago, and we caught up with the star of Admission (out March 22nd) for our March Man of Style feature. One fun fact the 43-year-old shared? He loves karaoke! “In New York there are a lot of karaoke bars where you can rent private rooms,” he said. “I have a couple of buddies—male friends that are die-hard karaoke enthusiasts like myself—and we get a private room and sing, just a group of dudes.” Sounds like a fun guys night out to us! For more on our March Man of Style, flip to page 252 of InStyle‘s March issue, or download it on your tablet.

Quote of the Day: InStyle Cover Model Mila Kunis’s Closet Confession

Feb 13, 2013 @ 3:22 pm

If you’ve ever held on to a piece of clothing that you Just Can’t Throw Out, Mila Kunis understands. “I’ve been wearing the same pair of dark green Old Navy cargo pants, like, non-stop, for 15 years,” the actress told InStyle for our Oz The Great and Powerful cast cover. “I think I paid $4.99, on clearance. My friends hate them so much they hide them from me. When those pants fall apart, I swear I’m going to get someone to copy them for me.” Who hasn’t been there?!

3 Tips for Dressing Your Curves Like Katy Perry

Feb 1, 2013 @ 12:23 pm

Katy Perry isn’t afraid to play up her famous assets, often sporting ensembles by Roland Mouret. In InStyle’s February issue, the singer’s go-to designer gave us tips on dressing a curvy body. See below for his advice!

1. Mind the middle: “Defining your waist is essential.”
2. Consider a modest neckline: “A scoop or boatneck only hints at what’s underneath and balances a top-heavy frame.”
3. Be bold: “A vibrant color or quirky pattern provides head-to-toe interest, as opposed to directing the viewer’s attention to just one particular area of your figure.”

For more advice from Mouret and other designers to the stars, flip to page 144 of InStyle’s February issue. On the go? Download the issue on your iPad, Nook, or Droid tablet!

What’s Bruno Mars’s Perfect Date Night? He Told InStyle!

Jan 30, 2013 @ 8:00 am
centerKai Z Feng

When Bruno Mars sings, he makes fans swoon over his smooth voice and confident swagger (proof: his latest album, Unorthodox Jukebox, in stores now). So, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we had to wonder: What’s a typical date night like with this Grammy winner? “A Bruno Mars date starts with me on the floor, hot fudge over my naked body—just to see…I like a girl who’s open to anything,” Mars joked in InStyle’s February issue as the featured Man of Style. “I’m kidding! I love to go to the movies and the beach and then dinner.” But don’t ask this singer for a serenade during dessert. ”No, that’s cornball. No girl wants that. Maybe if it’s done right. I’d feel cheesy just singing, like, with a microphone all ready to go.” Sounds like the perfect evening to us!

Inside InStyle: Drew Barrymore’s New Mom Beauty Routine!

Jan 29, 2013 @ 2:05 pm

We caught up with new mom Drew Barrymore for our February issue, who told us while she is busier than ever with 5-month-old Olive, she can still spare a little time for beauty. “It’s normally zero to 60 seconds, and that means doing my makeup in about 60 seconds,” the star revealed. “Just a little concealer, a little color on the eyes, and I double my lipstick as blush!” Crafty! The actress, who recently launched her own cosmetics line, Flower, also shared a tidbit of beauty wisdom that she’ll pass along to her daughter one day: “The happier she is in life, the more beautiful she’s going to be on the outside.” So true! Check out Barrymore’s Flower beauty collection at walmart.com.

Fashion Q&A: Can My Cashmere Sweater With Holes Be Saved?

Jan 23, 2013 @ 1:23 pm

QUESTION: My cashmere sweater has a few holes. Can I salvage it?

ANSWER: Try a professional reweaver! They can duplicate the exact pattern of the weave with a similar or identical thread. Repairing one hole typically starts at $50, with prices going up, depending on the damage. Completion takes anywhere from two weeks to a month, says Roberta Zotta of Zotta Re-Weavers in N.Y.C. To find a shop in your area, search “reweaver” online to find a service that ships nationwide, such as withoutatrace.com or fabricmending.com.

Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery Talks Fashion!

Jan 20, 2013 @ 5:00 pm

You may know her best as Lady Mary Crawley, the eldest daughter on the PBS series Downton Abbey, but in InStyle’s February issue, Michelle Dockery slips out of her character’s corset and reveals the fashion tips that she’s picked up on the set.

Embrace color. “My character wears a lot of bold jewel tones. I never thought a color like red would suit me, but now I find myself wearing more of these colors off the show as well. I like giving a nod to Downton.”

Shake things up. “As the plot of the show moves into the 1920s, we’re getting away from rigid corseted gowns and into less-structured dresses with above-the-knee hemlines,” says the actress, who chooses designs by Christopher Kane to get “a bit edgy from time to time.”

Offer only a glimpse. “I’m quite into the French way—simple elegance with just a suggestion of sexiness, nothing vulgar.

For more on Dockery, flip to page 204 of InStyle’s February issue. And be sure to tune in to PBS tonight at 9/8c to catch the latest episode of Downton Abbey! On the go? Download the issue on your iPad, Nook, or Droid tablet!
