Orange Makeup: Try This Fall Look!

Nov 4, 2012 @ 3:00 pm

True Crayola orange isn’t always the easiest shade to wear, but incorporating the color into your fall beauty routine is the perfect way to give the rest of your makeup new life. Try orange-inflected pinks to achieve a coral wash on cheeks or lips and warm up your skin tone. Pick one feature to highlight so that you don’t go orange overload! We’re loving how Emily Blunt complemented her vibrant Alexander McQueen gown (that made it into our Look of the Day) with sweeps of peach blush. See more of our favorite fall makeup hues in the gallery below.

Saturday Night Makeup Idea: Cobalt Blue Mascara à la Corinne Bailey Rae

Nov 3, 2012 @ 3:30 pm

Peek-a-blue! No more lashing out with your go-to blacks and browns—this weekend try an electric blue eye for a statement-making look. Celebrity makeup artist Kay Montano gave us the how-to for recreating Corinne Bailey Rae’s voluminous cobalt lashes at home. To pump up Rae’s brown, almond-shaped eyes, she applied six coats of Dior Diorshow Mascara in Azure Blue ($25; at dior.com) to upper and lower lashes, then went over them with a disposable mascara wand to eliminate clumps. “Just layer, layer, layer until you like the results.” To finish, complement your eyes with a simple nude lip and a little concealer—“you don’t want to pair it with a strong lip or cheek because it could easily look tacky.” Check out all of Corinne’s makeup in the gallery below.

12 Ways to Look Thinner by Tonight!

Nov 3, 2012 @ 2:00 pm

It’s no secret that we love the way heels make our legs look, but did you know that not all shoes are created equal? Legs look slim and sexy in skirts paired with shoes that have a tapered toe and at least a two-inch stiletto—like Blake Lively‘s pointy pumps (left). A slender tip and thin heel work to accentuate the narrowing of your legs below the calf. Square-toe styles with a thick, chunky heel give the appearance of a shorter, bulkier leg. See all of our quick fixes for a thinner you in the gallery now!

Mr. Bones: Where Celebrities Pick Their Pumpkins

Oct 30, 2012 @ 3:23 pm
Mr. Bones Pumpkin PatchAKM Images/GSI Media (2)

With Halloween upon us, we caught up with Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in West Hollywood, CA, to get more information about the celebrity destination. Famous moms—including Gwen Stefani, Heidi Klum, Jessica Alba (above right), and Christina Aguilera—flock to the spook-filled patch, which is loaded with festive activities like pony rides, petting zoos, straw mazes, and more! Then, of course, there are the pumpkins. Mr. Bones suggests forgoing the traditional perfectly round orange variety in favor of odd shapes, alternative colors (like white or gray), and unique textures for a ghoulish jack-o’-lantern. The star-adored patch also told InStyle.com to “Think stems! A beautiful stem makes a gorgeous pumpkin. If it has curlicues and leaves still attached snatch it up as fast as you can—these are rare gems.” Another great gourd tip: “Broken stem? No worries,” Mr. Bones assured us. “Make a wicked scary pumpkin by using the stem for a crooked jack-o’-lantern nose. S-P-O-O-K-Y!” Get carving before it’s too late, and click through the gallery below to see which other stars were spotted in the pumpkin patch!
