Whitney Houston created plenty of memorable moments on the Grammys red carpet. Our top five: the vibrant blue chiffon sheath she chose for her first Grammys in 1986, the embellished LBD and ankle cuffs she wore in 1988, her bodycon white sequined column at the 1994 ceremony, the hot pink Emanuel Ungaro gown and matching stole she donned 2000, and the blue and beige ombre gown from Zuhair Murad she showed off backstage in 2009. “I like modeling, but singing was in my blood. There was no way to escape that,” Whitney Houston has said. Though she had enjoyed success as a model, Houston made the transition from magazine covers to album covers with the 1985 release of her debut LP. Over the next 25 years, she would appear on 5 more studio albums, 2 soundtracks and 4 compilation disks. Our favorites: the singer looking regal on her first record, Whitney Houston, in a plain white tank top and her signature smile; the 1987 follow-up, Whitney; in character for 1992’s record-breaking soundtrack for The Bodyguard; and accessorizing her curve-hugging knit dress with black leather gloves and boots for 1998’s My Love is Your Love. First Look: The Hunger Games Capitol Couture Site

The studio behind the hotly anticipated movies has launched the Capitol Couture site, an inside look at all things fashion and beauty in the seriously chic city of Panem. Issue #1 includes a style profile of District 12 escort Effie Trinket, a look at designer clothes and shoes that could go straight from the runway to the Capitol, and a selection of amazing fan art from the Tumblr community. Givenchy Customized a Lip Color for Liv Tyler

Liv Tyler is one lucky woman! When the Robot and Frank star stopped by InStyle‘s Sundance portrait studio, she revealed that her pretty berry lip color came from a custom-blended gloss stick made especially for her by the beauty team at Givenchy. “I’m trying to convince them to add it to their collection and call it ‘Liv’s Lips,’” said Tyler, who also serves as the face of the label’s fragrance and makeup campaigns. While the couture color is exclusively hers for now, Tyler did share a simple tip that anyone can do at home: “If your lips are really dry, you can just literally put olive oil on them at night.” We tried it and it worked—thanks Liv!

Golden Globes InStyle Dinner: Preview Giada De Laurentiis’ Menu!

InStyle is kicking off Golden Globes night with an elegant dinner just steps away from the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Our guests, including Heidi Klum, Chloe Moretz and Orlando Bloom, will feast on an array of Italian dishes with a California twist, all prepared by star chef Giada De Laurentiis. Planning to host your own Globes party at home? De Laurentiis says timing is everything. “Create a menu where almost everything can be prepped ahead of time,” she advises. “And plan on serving the courses during commercial breaks to minimize disruptions during the show.” Among the dishes De Laurentiis recommends are her Brussels sprout leaf salad, stracotto with porcini mushrooms and chocolate panna cotta. Grimes curated the event, which was set up in order to sell designer clothes donated to Closets for a Cause, with proceeds going to Chrysalis, a nonprofit organization that benefits homeless and low-income individuals.
