Happy 34th birthday to Hollywood’s geek goddess, Olivia Munn! Before the international beauty (who is of Chinese-German-Irish decent) appeared on the big screen, the bonafide intellectual dabbled in a different kind of on-screen experience: She interned as a reporter for local NBC and Fox Sports affiliates during her tenure at the University of Oklahoma.
Since then, the quirky journalist and author (she penned the 2011 book Suck It, Wonder Woman!: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek) has turned her talents to landing major TV and movie roles, like her characters on The Daily Show, Magic Mike, and HBO’s The Newsroom.
When she’s not in front of the camera, Munn dedicates time to several humanitarian efforts, including PETA’s anti-fur campaign, and has consistently been named one of the world’s sexiest women, having ranked in at No. 2 on Maxim’s “Hot 100” list. Talk about beauty and brains!
The actress’s newest project hit theaters on Wednesday with the release of the paranormal horror flick Deliver Us from Evil, a film based on a true New York story that Munn said reaffirmed her belief in the supernatural. Up next, the actress will shift gears to share the screen with Johnny Depp in the heist comedy Mortdecai, set to release in February 2015.
