Did you think Jeremy Scott’s wacky debut collection for Moschino would have an equally wacky ad campaign to match? Think again. Scott’s fall 2014 lineup for the label may have strutted down the runway with looks inspired by McDonald’s, SpongeBob SquarePants, and various brands of junk food, but the just released ad campaign for the collection is undoubtedly classier than cheeseburgers.
The stunning black-and-white portrait of supermodel Linda Evangelista shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel is much more subdued than the collection itself, but is eye-catching nonetheless. The instantly recognizable colors of McDonald’s iconography—the glaring red and yellow and their golden arches—are erased, and the pieces appear in a more sophisticated light.
While we enjoyed seeing the over-the-top items from the show sported by editors, bloggers, and celebrities like Katy Perry and Rita Ora just days after their debut in Milan in February (several pieces went on sale to the public shortly after), we love how Scott took the campaign to a different level to show off the line’s versatility.
